The Swift Protocol is an implementation of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that provides Universal Basic Income. The Swift currency is designed to be used as a transactional currency. It has been designed for low transaction latency, the ability to scale to thousands of transactions per second, low transaction fees, and dispute resolution for transactions. Income is distributed on a daily basis to all participants and represents a UBI. This paper is written to give a clear understanding of how the Swift Protocol works. (Source)
SwiftDemand was launched less than a year ago. Since then, over 50,000 people have signed up with over 1,000 new users every day! (Claim Free SwiftDemand)
The Plan for SwiftDemand comprises three main elements:
- Deliver substantial basic income to all users on a worldwide scale
- Create the leading online cryptocurrency marketplace
- Build a cryptocurrency for everyday people and everyday transactions
Why I believe in this experiment?
First of all, SwiftDemand is a real Universal Basic Income large experiment, with a clear Governance plan to become an UBI by the people and for the people.
Second, because it merges a transparent free claiming process and the right incentives for those actively engaged in the spread of economic value in the real world. These mechanisms will allow voting rights and a decent process to calculate salaries for Identity Providers and Delegated Nodes. Identity Providers are responsible for validating the identity of Swift Citizens and creating new citizens by generating a keypair for each new Swift Citizen and including the identity on the blockchain. Delegated Nodes are responsible for maintaining full nodes and creating new blocks. (Source).
What is a Universal Basic Income?
A basic income is a periodic cash payment unconditionally delivered to all on an individual basis, without means-test or work requirement.
(
That is, basic income has the following five characeristics:
- Periodic: it is paid at regular intervals (for example every month), not as a one-off grant.
- Cash payment: it is paid in an appropriate medium of exchange, allowing those who receive it to decide what they spend it on. It is not, therefore, paid either in kind (such as food or services) or in vouchers dedicated to a specific use.
- Individual: it is paid on an individual basis—and not, for instance, to households.
- Universal: it is paid to all, without means test.
- Unconditional: it is paid without a requirement to work or to demonstrate willingness-to-work.
