Day 19:) Uber Conversation – Part I

On day 5, we discussed about the importance of conversation. Hope you had recently connected with a stranger. I had the privilege to connect with two uber pilots yesterday. Sharing a few highlights from the converse.

Jackson was aged, probably 40+. He drives just 5 hours a day and makes around 1-2K per day. What do you think he does rest of his time? Make a wild guess. He sells online via a website. He told me that a guy is earning around 10 lacs per month from that website and that guy is illiterate. I directly asked if it was related to network marketing. He was like if you don’t network you can’t sell. Tell me any business without networking. There was a pin drop silence form my end.

I asked him why he is not selling on Amazon. He didn’t support my suggestion since Amazon takes up all the profit and doesn’t give anything to the third parties. He is right on that front. The e-commerce company’s creditor day (discussed below) is around 3 weeks. Next, we talked about education and job. He said, “Parents say their children to study hard so that they can get a good job”. I was intrigued to know what he said to his children. To that he replied, he asked them to focus on knowledge and not on money. Thereafter, we discussed about foreign employment. His opinion was people go abroad to do high end job but end up riding taxi or doing other blue color jobs. Also, he suggested, “The way Bihari’s are treated as outsider in Delhi, the same way Indian’s are treated as outsider in overseas”. If we can earn the same amount at our home town, why we will leave it at the first place.

Afterwards, I reached my destination and the conversation ended.

What is Creditor Day?

Creditor days estimates the average time it takes a business to settle its debts with trade suppliers. The business can utilize the money for other business purposes for those days.
