@steem-ua: Announcements, Partnerships and Exciting News!

steem-ua.png

At @steem-ua things move fast: that's an understatement even! Merely 9 days after publishing our Intro Post, we have now (at the time of writing this Post) acquired 589 delegators, together delegating 355562.59 SP, and currently ~ 1/3rd of those delegated SPs come from accounts delegating 25 SP, 50 SP, 100 SP, 250 SP, 500 SP, 1000 SP or 2500 SP. That type of community engagement to a brand new Steem Project is never been seen before, on the steem Blockchain. @steem-ua is already the #3 most delegated-to account in terms of number of delegators and we are growing very quickly. In the past 7 days, @steem-ua has casted 1438 upvotes to 475 different accounts, and in total we posted 2105 comments, most of them SmartComments, providing insights regarding the curated posts and trying to "coach" people on how to improve even further, when applicable.

And > 99% of the replies we have received on our upvotes, posts and comments are HAPPY REPLIES! Or as @meno chose to summarize the first week of @steem-ua in this post of his:

Everyone is excited and all for it, or it seems to be that way in the very least. In the seven days it has existed, its already broken some records in delegations. The best part is that it's a bunch of little accounts delegating to it, and that to me is a very good sign.

It means, at least in theory that the little accounts, the tiny minnows are having hope, are drinking the much needed hopium, and god knows that is precisely what it takes to change the attitude of the community.

Hopium ... Please take a moment or two to let that word sink in...

The @steem-ua Discord Server: Organizing the @steem-ua Community in Close Collaboration with @helpie

When you're growing at the pace @steem-ua does, you need help. And precisely what my friend and colleague @holger80 and myself (@scipio) were hoping for, has happened: not only does @steem-ua get help in terms of many small and quite some large SP Delegators, but also in terms of Community Management the Community Support is amazing! The same @meno I was just refering to also happens to manage a Discord and Steem Helper Community called @helpie. After getting invited in their own Discord, where I quickly explained what @steem-ua is about, unanimously the @helpie Community Managers offered to help-ie @steem-ua with organizing our own Discord!

In there, @meno was granted the Discord Role of [UA Organizer] and within minutes people met, created a spot for themselves, assign the appropriate roles, and get things going: like welcoming @steem-ua newcomers, helping out with proper administation, explaining UA Votes casted, providing FAQ's, and of course... having fun together! Once again: Amazing! And a Big Big Thank You @helpie!

UA Scouts and UA Guides: An idea I got after talking to @hanshotfirst

The past few days I have been in direct contact with literaly HUNDREDS of people, many of which I never talked to before launching @steem-ua. One of these people is @hanshotfirst. In a few very interesting conversations he mentioned this idea to me:

The minnows who are not discovered are the ones that need the help, not ones that are discovered by individuals or curation projects.

What @hanshotfirst is refering to, of course, is our Algorithmic Curation Formula ...

UA_Vote = x * UA_Account + y * UA_Post + z * UA_Comment

... which, in essence, means:

  • the higher your own account's UA score, and
  • the better the votes on your post, computed by all post voters' UA scores, and
  • the more interaction on your post via the comments
... the more powerful our upvote to your post!

But how about new Steemians? People with absolute no idea how Steemit) works. Who to contact? Where to begin? How to earn something? Exactly those people are clueless, most of the times. How can @steem-ua, which uses Algorithmic Curation independent of the amount delegated, on any topic, in any language, help those people?

Enter UA Scouts & UA Guides
Suddenly, I had another idea: how about assigning some of the @Helpies the role of UA Scout and UA Guide? A UA Scout is now assigned the task of discovering / scouting "New Steem Talent": valid new accounts, posting pretty good content, trying to find their way, earning pennies or less, not having heard of @steem-ua, yet. The UA Scouts will upvote them, therewith tick the @steem-ua Algorithmic Curation Bot with the newly discovered / scouted accounts / posts, ans @steem-ua will curate & upvote those new accounts anyway, despite them not being (small) SP Delegators still. We'll leave a SmartComment, introducing "The @steem-ua Movement", invite them over to our Discord where the UA Guides welcome them, and guide / coach them to grow their account. Maybe this way, new accounts will not give up on Steem, maybe this way user retention can grow: HOPIUM!

Thx @hanshotfirst for providing insights leading to this idea! And again, thx @helpie for enabling the @steem-ua movement to improve on every single iteration!

High-SP Sponsor Rewards Program

Those who invest, deserve ROI.

The many "small" Delegators @steem-ua has, get their ROI in terms of Algorithmic Curation Upvotes, using UA data, and those upvotes are independent to the delegated SP (only the frequency of the upvotes increases with more SP delegation, up to max. 7 upvotes per week). But how about high-SP POWER investors that have co-driven @steem-ua to where it is now already? How to reward those people, like @neoxian, @cryptoctopus, @stellabelle, @rival (who has delegated almost everything he owns for believing in @steem-ua), and many more. How do you do that, when you're @steem-ua, been live for 9 days, have close to zero liquidity, and far more SP delegators than the current HF19 allows for to set as beneficiaries.

Have a look at https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@utopian.stats/utopian-pay-2018-8-16
This is - for those unaware of it - the Utopian payment system built to reward Utopian Moderators and Community Managers. And of course, I know: some of you don't like comment voting. But that system was thought of by someone I know pretty well at a time when @Utopian-io faced the same problem of being new and fast growing, as a necessary means to simply reward hard-working people (at @utopian-io, the moderators and Community Managers). @steem-ua will use the same mechanism to provide ROI to our high-SP Delegators.

Over the past hours:

  • we've created the account @steem-ua.pay,
  • contacted all our high-SP Sponsors (a few of which have declined their ROI, for the sole purpose of supporting @steem-ua without any ROI),
  • we will weekly generate a report post,
  • on which our high-SP Sponsors will be rewarded via auto-generated comments on their behalf,
  • those comments will be voted on by @steem-ua based on the proportional stake of each high-SP Sponsor,
  • which can be done either by authorizing @steem-ua.pay to generate the Sponsor Comments with the posting-auth of their original (or alt) account,
  • or we will create an alt account for them like neoxian-ua.pay and hand over the active key to claim rewards.

Because of full transparency, I'm explaining this to the public herewith. If you are a high-SP Sponsor, and have not yet replied to me (@scipio) with your preferred option (alt account or posting-auth), please seek contact with my colleague @holger80 via our Discord so we can set you up.

One more additional note: as it has been promised early on, 2 exceptions will be made to enter the high-SP Sponsor Rewards Program despite delegating less than 5,000 SP delegations:

  • @zoef, delegating now 2215 SP, and went "all in" to support @steem-ua, and
  • @mindtrap, delegating now 2500 SP.
These promises were made "early on", like waaaaaay back earlier in @steem-ua time, like 1 week ago, maybe 8 days even ;-) . No other high-SP Delegator has veto'd their entry. (PS, they could combined have formed 1 new account delegating, so I consider this a non-issue as well, but in case of full transparency, I've hereby explained.)

Interesting developments.

Question: why do you have to log in using SteemConnect to see your UA score? I can't see a reason why you would need any authorization to do a look up in your database.

Edit: reading your API documentation you require a memo key encrypted message with plaintext of the senders username only (i.e. not a useful message), so I have to conclude you are using SC to do this. The purpose then is obviously proof of requester but why do you need this? Internal statistics? API rate limiting to Steem account holders only, and possibly per account if you choose (though you don't say it anywhere I can see)?

Because I dont want you to think nobody saw this question I'm replying... ill try to find an answer too.

Thanks, looking forward to see what it could be.

I can't imagine it can take this long to get an answer, have you had any success in this or is nothing coming. This is a critical issue as far as I'm concerned.

interesting, transparency would be nice. Also the messages now given with upvotes have no post ranking information taking away more transparency.... ? any reason @steem-ua?

Yepp! Just tacking on here, as a user, I would definitely appreciate an explanation about this.

I generally really like the project and the ideas behind it, but have had some questions, especially regarding the score and how that'll work for...well...people like me. My score is 0 (for whatever reasons) and if I delegate as much as I can (25) I don't think I'll be able to expect much. It seems like @steem-ua will further boost the people who already have a lot of activity on their blog, but smaller accounts will remain small (and I'm not only talking about users who are absolutely new).

Do I get this right? Any ideas?

Same here, i suppose @steem-ua will render the rich get richer and poor get poorer

Hi, don't be intimidated if your current UA_Account score is still low! And also don't confuse that with UA_Vote:

UA_Vote = x * UA_Account + y * UA_Post + z * UA_Comment

This means:

  • the higher your own account's UA score, and
  • the better the votes on your post, computed by all post voters' UA scores, and
  • the more interaction on your post via the comments
==> the more powerful our upvote to your post!

Or in other words,

  • if you have a low UA_Account score
  • but write amazing posts
  • where lots of people engage on via the comments, for example like this post I wrote on behalf of @steem-ua
.... then that still gives you an upvote, every week, by @steem-ua, that is really worth delegating your hard-earned 25 SP to!

@steem-ua is here for everybody: I could do the math, and give you an example of how much delegating 25 SP to @steem-ua brings you in return, every week, f you write good content that people love.

But you can also join our Discord Server, talk to the UA Guides, that will help you grow and grow.
Please do so

Good luck! @scipio

So when you delegate the small amounts you get the upvote from steem-ua.

250 gets 7 votes.

The quality of those votes depends on your UA score.

Your UA score is dependent on followers, interaction, and an algorithm of which I am only now beginning to understand.

My score is something like 4.2 and my rank is something like 2521.

I believe my rank was a hundred points or so higher yesterday although I could be wrong.

It seems to me though that delegating 250 SP would likely get me a higher ROI then not delegating it.

Am I wrong in thinking that?

Edit: What gets your UA up? Running contests like writing contests?

Edit 2: How do I check other people's UA score?

Edit 3: Shout out to @meno. I'm a helpie too.

My theory is that you can maybe create a math formula, that helps calculating, when delegation can potentially mean more ROI than the "opportunity cost". (e.g. delegating to @smartsteem or @minnowbooster instead)

Of course it has many uncertain, and as such, probability factors, like SteemUA acc voting power/weight fluctuation over time, or UA fluctuation itself, but considering on my own example that an UA of 2 can bring you to the top 25k (at least!) among a million users overall (top 2.5%) (even on 50k daily active users, it's likely a top 50%), I'd say that every delegation above 25SP from an account with >2UA very likely has a higher ROI than not delegating.

@paulag or someone else good at math may do a calculation on it.

What about small steemians with less steem power? anything for them?

They have a "donations" program for low SP users. You will need to contact them on discord: https://discord.gg/rSbXujG

This sounds like a super cool program to grow Steem's community and increase content quality. Very excited.

...contacted all our high-SP Sponsors (a few of which have declined their ROI, for the sole purpose of supporting @steem-ua without any ROI)

Wow...that is epic! Human Angels of the #STEEM blockchain...

I’ll contact tomorrow

Can we do predictive UA via machine learning and identify users who have a much lower UA than expected from their posting quality? It seems like with your data that ought to be possible.

As a test you could go ahead and pull the upvote activity from the @steem-ua activity log then pull the posts and correlate the content vs the vote percentage to see if you can get a predictive ML algorithm working. Then manually rate the posts for subjective quality (w/o looking at the upvote percent) and compare.

Thanks so much for these timely updates, @steem-ua crew :-) You're really looking like you're going to make a huge difference for our favorite blockchain. I just received the first UA upvote, based on my meager score and small delegation and I can only say it painted a broad smile on my face. Not only the upvote itself, but also because I can now wholeheartedly advice everyone to join. The sooner you guys grow, the sooner Steemit will become a better place for all. That's how it looks now in my eyes. Thanks so much, once again for the great work you do.

As a proud helpie I can only congratulate you with the promising alliances you're forging for the betterment of steemit.com ;-)

PS
Do try to get enough sleep though, @scipio ;-)

edit:
Totally forgot to say: I love the way you incorporate useful tips in the automated reply that comes with the upvote. Yet another way to help beginners get started :-)

I think it's a great idea to help the minnow and existing users. Steemit needs more users to attract big investors. That's how facebook have it! Facebook has a lot of users; many big companies are willing to pay for advertising! On Steemit, most of us (maybe all of us) to sign up for money, that’s the advantage comparing to other social medias. But if you don't know coding or different languages, you could not get vote from U-topian. If you don't play live games, you could not get vote from Dlive. If you don't make very good video, you won't be voted by Dtube. For many regular minnow users on Steemit, they did not have any special skills, then they could not get any vote. They are frustrated and will leave.

H0PIUM!!! Love this term. Well done to all.. a shining example of what can be done on the blockchain when crew get together and help.

Yes! Precisely 💓

Posted using Partiko iOS

Now that is one amazing term, right? It's filled with positive energy, a little bit like was happening in 2007-2008 when a certain somebody was saying "Yes We Can". (I mean the feeling from it, not comparing him to me of course.)

Haha ... yep, you.could have a poster made or maybe a cap?

Keep up the great work @steem-ua

The news is spreading fast. Will you be creating your own front end soon so people can see each others UA scores and organise "trending" based on UA?

@kabir88
Posting from my alt account as I have a whale chasing me 😂

I am glad to have gone all in. And lets bring this thing to everyone on steemit!

logo.png

(IMHO) I think it would be useful to add a curation trail to the @steemauto: https://steemauto.com/ site so that those interested can do follow up votes for @steem-ua upvoted posts.

As their default configuration is to match the percent of the followed vote to original vote's percentage the follow on votes would also be proportionate to the @steem-ua calculated ua "worth" of the post.

Thoughts?

Good idea

Posted using Partiko iOS

Searching for "steem-ua":

Sorry, that curation trail does not exist. If that account belongs to you, sign up on SteemAuto and create a trail.

Thanks for the exciting news.
Great things are happening. :)

@scipio the sudden love and rise for the project shows how much people use to dislike current repo system and want to bring more parity through user engagement. ....more delegation coming your way soon👍

I'll take chronocrypto-ua.pay Thank you in advance.

@steem-ua Your post was selected and voted by the curator @pataty69 project looking for excelent rewards on great content posts that can be followed on my trail at @steemauto.

Following "zombie" users vs being followed by "zombie" users.

How does the being followed vs following of such "zombies" related to one's UA score?

Especially as it is not possible to remove a follower. (Only mute them - which seems pointless if you aren't following them.)

Good point!

I LOVE all of the growth thus far! Breaking records and it’s happening fast! Glad to see helpie and meno playing key roles. Good forces on the blockchain :) I delegated some and may do more! Thanks!

Keep going UA...future seems bright..

Not so sure about this @meno guy you speak of..

Can you explain what you meant regarding @meno please?

issa joke fam

atleast an attempt at one..

@meno be aight...should shave off his beard though !!

Nice clarity fully delivered in a very transparent manner! Thank you. 👍

We do our best! :-)
Thx for the compliments! And again thx for your support as well!

This is great. I shall soon delegate

Posted using Partiko Android

Would be great! Thx in advance!

I am tiny minnow, here I am to help people to know about this platform.

Posted using Partiko Android

This is just an example of how quickly you can support an awesome project on the steem blockchain. If the right people take note this blockchain could become the best founding platform ever.

Thank you for the kind words! :-)

I haven't read the majority of this, but i will tomorrow when i sober up a touch.

I remember seeing something about a steem-ua api being in progress (or is it ready?). I'm working on a dApp, and could be interested in incorporating.

Like what you're doing!

Posted using Partiko Android

Scipio, been following the project since the delegation was "merely" 80k SP. I guess I'm not the most interesting member on Discord, but seeing your progress and (positive) hype is truly inspirational. Aside of the HF20 announcement, you're a primary reason I even "returned" in terms of activity.

To an extent, it seems to me that you gave a new hope on the ecosystem.

No it's just another crappy delegation bot enriching the wealthy and stamping on the poor

How can you say tha-

Oh, nevermind.

Lol, you have a high UA score?

No, not really - 1.92, but with no posts in half a year.

Sorry to say, but you really have to earn total zero UA. That can't be the result of targeted punishment; it's mathematically impossible.

Then why so many ppl have zero UA score?

Well, in this context, as usual, simple numbers have deeper meaning behind.

Low UA means being followed by few accounts overall, or many low-UA accounts - that is, people who haven't built up a credible and genuine fanbase yet. (theoretically) Why someone missed on it so bad can have multiple reasons.

Your content doesn't seem to be particularly bad, so I'd assume your followers are low-profile members of Steem.

Or the algorithm hasn't calculated everyone's numbers yet.

Thanks for supporting newbies and who believe in you, great idea!!

Wow - it is all going very fast. hope you have managed to sleep @scipio. I especially love the tip when I receive an upvote. I gulped down the Hopium and already sprung into action based on those tip. :-)

Crappy system that will further silence the voice of minnows and planktons. Thumbs down.

Hay just want to know what about those whose UA score is low so will they be beneficial for them ??

Posted using Partiko Android

Yes, but not as great as the whales

In the end, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer

yup that's for sure lets see how much return it can provide.

Posted using Partiko Android

Sure, go for it if it's lucrative, but it's very vague at the moment

lets see hope for the best....

Don't bother delegating SP to @steem-ua if you are a minnow with 0 UA score like me.

Greetings, @steem-ua. I just delegated 25SP. Hope this works out.

It is very difficult for the new and smaller accounts. Getting zero or just above zero for every post is very bad for retention. Even a 0.3 Steem upvote can provide some encouragement for new users to keep posting.

Keep up the good work guys.

Should have the 25 SP needed to delegate by the end of the week.

I made my very first delegation of steem today to you. Is participation in the program automatic upon delegating? If not, can this be my notice to you that I wish to participate?
