I realize that I'm late posting for this work of fiction challenge @mctiller but your prompt caused a story in my head, that I just had to get out, regardless.

Usually I write 'non-fiction' here on steemit, so I thank you for sparking this work of fiction which I enjoyed writing; disqualified or not...My link is below:
