THE TERROR.. AMC SERIES COMING UP IN MARCH!!

AMC has released the official trailer of The terror an ambitious series inspired by the novel of Dan Simmons that will premiere on Monday, March 26

Both the series (10 episodes of an hour each), and the novel take as reference a true story that dates back to the nineteenth century: The well-known as the lost expedition of Franklin, a failed voyage of exploration of the Arctic, captained by Sir John Franklin, who left England on May 19, 1845.

The HMS Erebus and HMS Terror are two ships of the British army under Sir John Franklin who left England on May 19, 1845 and are trapped in the ice of the Arctic trying to find the passage of the Northwest. Franklin and the 128 crew member have been left at the mercy of time, trapped in the ice in the Victoria Strait, near King William Island, in the Canadian Arctic. They can’t escape, they can’t flee to any place and they have no choice but to wait for the thaw in order to continue. However, time passes slowly and the conditions of life at 50 degrees below zero are very difficult: They run out of food, the boats begin to deteriorate and diseases are fed with several of them.

And if this were not enough, the strange presence of a mysterious creature makes them understand the crew that they must not only survive the cold, the rebellion and even the cannibalism ... they must also do it before a fearsome supernatural force ...

During the two years following that failed trip, the crew members tried to survive with the pantries full of canned food. During all this time, eleven British and two American ships were sent for them. In those incursions some vestiges of the expedition were found, as well as tombs of the crew. There was also contact with the Inuit (Eskimos) and they told some stories about the crew of the Franklin expedition, and even had some personal objects of the crew. Some bones with signs of cannibalism were also found. The search was maintained for decades.

In June 1847 Captain Franklin died and a year later the rest of the survivors decided to walk, with fatal outcome, to the Canadian continent. But what were the reasons why none of the 129 explorers survived? Hunger, hypothermia and pneumonia, tuberculosis, scurvy, lead poisoning (from the welding of canned food cans and the drinking water system of boats). Everything could contribute to the real motive of the death of most of the crew: Addison's disease. The discovery of the wrecked ships between 2014 and 2016 has allowed to solve one of the great mysteries of recent history.

The cast : Jared Harris (Mad Men) plays Francis Crozier, captain of the ship HMS Terror and the second in command of the expedition.

Ciarán Hinds ('Justice League') is Sir John Franklin, the leader and main promoter of the expedition.
