BIOGRAPHICAL STUDY OF ENTREPRENEURS Vol 2.

in #tutorial7 years ago

Happy New Month Great Steemit Family!!

I am here to run a completion of my last tutorials titled 'the biographical study of entrepreneurs'. This is the second part of the tutorial. I trust you will be blessed as you partake.

•NEED FOR ACHIEVEMENT: Psychologist David C. McClelland, who is the chief architect of acquired need theory, argues that entrepreneurs tend to have a high need for achievement. Such individuals gravitate toward situations in which they can achieve results through their own efforts. pursue moderately different goals, and receive relatively immediate feedback on how they are doing.

•TAKING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: This is one of the good characteristics of a good entrepreneur. In the words Jona (1995:5) , taking personal responsibility for our actions decreases our dependence on others. A person who takes personal responsibility for his actions assumes control for his own decisions and will be willing to stand by his actions. An entrepreneur does not believe in chance , he plans to determine his future. This is better achieved if he takes responsibility for his actions. To have control over the future (his own future). he plans and sets targets, when things go wrong. he assumes that responsibility for correcting it.

•LONG TERM INVOLVEMENT: Or otherwise known as consistency, now this is the part my friend @mopelola was asking about in the first volume of this topic. The entrepreneurs eye's are set for tomorrow so he sets out for a long term lasting business, which will outlive his children and grand children. So an entrepreneur put all he has because he knows that he is preparing for a long term business. hence, he companies we see today started from humble beginnings.

•DEVIANT BEHAVIOUR: Entrepreneurs are characteristically known to exhibit deviant behaviours when in other's employment. That high prospensity to leave and open up their own business is always inherent in their behaviours in their places of work. That singular characteristics always acts for the usual short stays of entrepreneurs when in other's employ, both in private and public. That inherent desire to leave, and be on their own, always sets the potential entrepreneur to be at alert and industrious, putting eyes on any slightest opportunity that may come up which may necessitate early exit.

•DRIVE AND ENERGY: Entrepreneurial jobs are complex and demanding. So for a proper and coherent articulation of these activities, an entrepreneur must have a high powered drive and energy to enable him run about, going to the banks, offices and most times staying very late in his office, and being able to resume very early in the morning the following day. A serious and determined entrepreneur should be able to work 6 days in a week and a minimum of 12 hours daily.

•TAKING INITIATIVE (CONCEPTUAL ABILITY): The entrepreneur is his own boss and he takes all the initiative and does all the considerations in his business when the need arises.

•FUTURE ORIENTED (VISIONARY): The ability to be visionary and focused is an attribute a good entrepreneur should possess. He should have foresight and perception of the future because he does not work for today alone, but for tomorrow mostly. All his investments are for future. So he should have a clear focus of what he wants the future to be like, with a continuous growth in his investments.

Fellow entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in the making, It is necessary to note that the above listed attributes are general tendencies that has been derived from studies, observations and analysis of successful entrepreneurs over time across cultures. It is not at all suggested that all of the characteristics will be found in every successful entrepreneur. It is also necessary to note that the relative dominance of the listed attributes will vary in accordance with each individual's personality, type of business, emotions and operating environment. Hello! I find your post valuable for the wafrica community! Thanks for the great post! @wafrica is now following you! ALWAYs follow @wafrica and use the wafrica tag!

actually i believe it's more about working smart than the number of hours inputted in a business. the entrepreneurial world is disruptive, it needs some touch of laziness garnished with mad creativity

I don't see how a touch of laziness can help one grow. So change that mentality. @estrellamag

I agree with you on taking responsibility. To be successful we have to start taking responsibilities, that's the only way we can learn from our mistakes and grow.
Thanks for sharing this..
@nmalove for @wafrica curators

Yea @nmalove Like i said, once we start taking responsibility, we will assume control for our decisions, and be willing to stand by our actions. And from what you said that is how we learn from our mistakes and grow. I learnt from you too. Many thanks for visiting my blog.
