Residents sow flowers all around the corner of mass graves Ulee Lheue, Banda Aceh, then watered water brought from a small bucket. The stones that are there, also sprinkled with flowers as a symbol to remember the tragedy of the earthquake and tsunami that has claimed many lives 13 years ago.
Today, Tuesday (26/12) people throughout Aceh held a memorial of the devastating tsunami disaster. Then the citizens of the pilgrims sat cross-legged on the crust of the masses stretching their hands to climb prayers. Their mouths mumbled and prayed and read Yasin's letter.
Some went alone, some with their young children. Even children are asked to sow flowers and are invited to pray at the mass grave of Ulee Lheue, Banda Aceh. This mass grave is located in Gampong Blang Oi, Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh, about 500 meters from the zero point of the tsunami.
On the inscription located in the cemetery in Ulee Lheue, it is clearly written there are approximately 14,264 bodies buried in the mass grave. Every major Islamic day as well as every tsunami warning. The good citizens in the village and other pilgrims in the mass grave.
