Wow, thank you for charles1. Great post. Having allowed myself to have been led astray a few times on my journey in life, I am trying to get a little wiser now. I have been wondering who and what the leadership in steemit is all about, and could efforts that I put in to help build this community be wasted in the future, and the people I encourage be let down. A couple of us have started a Steemit group here in Chiang Mai, (and had 25 new people at it last night, all keen to get started) as there are 1,000's of Nomads going through here and I have also started recruiting friends I have to contribute to our page, hence our name. However, i do have a weary eye on which way the wind blows, and have been concerned that the power at the top of steemit could be wishy washy and sell out there power in the future to you know who. A billion $ offer or whatever to a few disgruntled whales, would be tempting, and once again we would be under the control of those we all desperately know we have to get away from.
I have a bit to say, so I will let it all out. In my real life, I do a bit of international marketing, and I was talking to a colleague in Australia a couple of weeks ago, and she told me 13 of the men she knew of in the area had committed suicide recently, ( I know this may sound irrelevant to this discussion, but I will get to the point quickly), I also have several of my friends trying to convinced of a dismal future, due to robotisation of jobs etc.. And I can see it myself, especially as we get older and have to compete for the scarce jobs that will become available.
And speaking to my grown up children, they have no idea what the future will bring.
From the conditioning we are undergoing, the world of 5 years from now looks like few jobs, and because of competition, very menial wages.. and many other effects, such as health.. etc,
( So the depression problems in the future will be worse than has happened in the community I spoke about)
So putting it in a nutshell, my opinion is that our society has been waylaid, and to take our power back we need to work together. All leaders have differences of opinion and strong wills, which is good, otherwise they wouldn't have got to where the are, against many odds. But those strong wills are a two edged sword and can easily destroy there own good work, as has happened with many leaders in the past.
My suggestion to these two guys and there councillors, look first to where they agree on their visions for themselves and what the want to create, both in life and in Steemit as a starting point and work back from there to where they disagree. I am sure where they agree will be a strong point, as would have been the case when they first started and got involved with steemit, even if they don't like each other, they can agree to disagree, and put that aside to be dealt separately.
So Start where they agree.. otherwise both of their visions will be destroyed..
I personally have a very positive view for the future, but we must get some control on the media that controls our minds, and with the potential for stemmit to take on facebook, become a social movement, ? I think that is a possibility. But only with aligned leadership.
It would be good to get an idea, what other people think the world will look like in 5 years going in its current direction and if its worth putting the effort in to change course. So thank you @charles1 for giving me to put in my effort. ))
PS, charles1, I saw you mentioned assisting another contributor to this discussion, about creating an ICO. I have an idea re the above about doing this, and I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss it with you..
