Here's a good old conversation about quantum mechanics recently in Joe Rogan's Experience #1003. The full video is recommended too. Sean Carroll is one of my favourite science communicators, and I remember discovering his book - The Particle at the End of The Universe while travelling through the airport in Melbourne. He does a great job of dispelling the pseudoscience often mixed up by loose comprehension and lousy language. Truth or existence is just as-is, an eternal wave function. That's the best way I can put it in my own words. In the extended video, there's also quite a good talk about the Big Bang and how it falls under our understanding of the laws of physics.. which reminds me of another book I found in the same airport a very long time ago - Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe by Simon Singh - a book that I think helped with my understanding of space and time. Keyword: I think.
All these is in my woo-woo sounding perspective, saying there's every possible state of existence that we can end up with. "Good" or "bad", there's something for each and everyone of us with the caveat that it needs to be in the realm of possibility, at least when the laws of the universe are concerned - so technology is one such driver of how society is being led at this point in time. To "find our place", we just need to look for these answers/questions and be flexible when there's conflict involved, especially in a highly socialised world. The pursuit of happiness is part thinking (fast and slow, in the words of Daniel Kahneman), learning, and connecting the dots. Despite our tendencies for escapism, it remains there's an ever-expanding depth of imagination that our minds can tap into for creativity, going beyond the mundane.
My head's spinning after watching this the entire morning and trying to express the thoughts I have at the moment. Don't even know what I'm talking about now. Anyway, hearing Joe Rogan vocalising his mind getting blown every 10 minutes is entertaining enough lol. Steem on :)
Edit: added the full video below for convenience
I remember watching Joe Rogans first podcast, it was just for kick but now has the best podcasts ever in the recents years. He brings on the best minds on his show these days but throws in comedy, fighting, hunting etc etc...
I was pissed at how Peter shiff was taking shit about bitcoins a few weeks ago on the show 😂😂
I thought the same thing.
But consider: Shiff's spent his whole career against fiat money. His livelihood is selling gold, a resource with thousands of years history of being used for wealth and money.
He is wrong about it being the first money, though. Gold is rarely money for the man on the street. Notes were written for bushels of wheat and traded; stuff like that. We didn't go "from barter to gold" like he suggests, and I think he should know that by now and stop saying it.
I thought it was funny how he presented his goldcredit card and how he went on telling how great it is bringing gold in the real world. This shows he is not aware that this exist for crypto or he just wanted to shit talk it since he probably doenst have intrest in people running int crpyto instead of gold.
Must be pretty fun doing these podcasts :) Peter shiff or schill??
@kevinwong and @stackin , what we see of the world is not exactly how the world is. It is relative. And for the crypto world, it exists to over 1 million people today, for the rest it does not exist. When it happens to exist for just a small part of the rest, it will start growing exponentially. All desentralized tech companies and the best world developers are working hard to execute different innovations and one will start hitting each of the industries one by one. @gold84
The cloud which is not one.. old school knowledge which is not applicable anymore. The most interesting thing for me is our primitive interpretation of things around us. We recognize physical objects which are just atoms (from my understanding) who have a structural integrity, material properties for reaction with light photons.. even that are just definitions to give us a picture.. Elon Musk's theory is we are all part of a huge (or tiny) simulation and all life is not real.. even my description is just a primitive picture to explain something.. and even the professor in the video draws pictures with formulas and numbers.. we as humans looking always for patterns to find a explanation and get familiar with something which could not be familiar with us.
53:00 min just more confusing explanation 😵
"You managed to make it more confusing. Congratulation!" "Good!"..
mind bending.. thank you!
Read books man. Those people in video they are read books and think. Open new universe. Read non fiction and professional books. Kubalion - will blow your mind. I think, those who made up Quantum mechanic use Kubalion as inspiration.
This one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kybalion
I think I came across something similar though mark passio's stuff before. Thanks for the recommendation :)
Man!!! Better I stay in my kitchen and cook some great food! This got my head explode!
Come up with a quantum dish :D
I am actually working on a miniature sandwich! That would be fun to share, maybe later during the day!
Wow, now that's one heavy duty morning you've got there ;)
Joe Rogan kicks ass; I first watched his podcast out of curiosity, and I then discovered he's a truly smart guy!
Have a nice day, @kevinwong! I'm sure you will after such a morn.
Lol he's like a sponge in the vid. and thanks! steemulating morning indeed xD
I'm an old fan of JR, been listening to his podcast every now and then ^_^
one thing I always wondered about superposition how they determine in which direction a particle is spinning, all directions are relative to the observer, I move to the other side and it's spinning in the other direction.
Well a watching quantum mechanics conversations joe rogan definelty not a good combination in the morning lel !
big mistake!
@kevinwong,, I really like your posts ,, I am sure you are a very strong and tough in facing anything, and also you are a generous in helping others, please Upvote and follow me @danker
This is awesome, never saw these guys before. Love the tattoed tough guy wanting to learn about quantum lol.
Keep it up @kevinwong up and followed
If you want to shock your brain into waking up on a lazy Sunday morning maybe this is a good idea :))
Having my own brains for breakfast is delightful.
please keep half..
It's good to cheer up the brain with a quantum mechanics on Sunday morning :)
just begin watching.... click ! :) and after seeing this video for 3 minutes, I need to learn a little bit basic about quantum mechanic to understand it.
Hahah i've been coming back to it once every few years, still very non-intuitive
This video makes you think during breakfast.
Thank you for a reason to think. I had no plans for this Sunday morning.
Sorry for a bad sunday morning xD lol
I have always been fascinated with quantum mechanics and theory. Watching Joe's reactions ~ perfection!
Joe Rogan is an interesting person. He really does a lot.
I also like when people say all their thoughts here. Thank you! Resteemed.
You know, I watched the whole video and still don't understand it. The only thing I got from it was particles in the cloud and hard to draw out thoughts.
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
Our language / vocab isn't made for this xD
Can't wait for quantum computers to emerge.
There's already some at work like the ones in https://www.dwavesys.com/home, but still doesn't do much practicality at all i think..
best video @kevinwong
Excellent video @kevinwong, this man has something to listen to on quantum mechanics!
truth to good and bad sometimes people see from different angles, and sometimes wrong to be true..have a nice weekend @kevinwong
A mind blowing post although I cannot claim to understand all of the discussion on quantum Mechanics.
He's a big mouth with a lot on his brain.
interesting reasoning)!
thanks for sharing keep it up
Very good post friends. thanks for sharing @kevinwong. good luck
I like the way he talks about space. He is very intelligent and unusual person. He deserves to be the idol of young people today.
Realy enjoyed the vid & the article thx ! @kevinwong
goodmorning to you sir @keinwong.
Schrodinger's cat.
Watched!! i think i need to read more about quantum to see the world differently
@kevinwong What a wonderful and heartwarming Tale..
I like your video.
how do we make a post so many people visit.
I will study with you. by viewing your post.
I really like all your posts.
i like ..
quantum mechanics itself blow my mind away ;p
oh my god..this was my first time..anyway it was a cool experience :) thanks for sharing it
Interesting video, upvote and resteem!
Great video @kevinwong
Scientists says that a large collection of nothing compressed together then exploded and that is the Big Bang.
hi, nice to read about you.
i am, sajedul ahmed, from bangladesh,am also new on steemit and welcome you to steemit.
i have followed you. so, can also follow me plz.and plz upvoted my post.
best of luck...
good conversion video
Deep man.
Not to sound woo-woo myself, but sometimes I think that the reason why something is real is that we aren't supposed to understand it... yet.
So everything happens for a reason? That reason is that you aren't supposed to to know.
I especially appreciate your "review" of it (;
Joe Rogan is so cool! I never would have expected him to be so open minded and on the right side of things (in my opinion) most of the time! I love the guests he has on, his show must be so fun. The one he did with Alex Jones was pretty funny and cool lol When he had on Crowder that one was a little tense haha
