You know, even if Trump had mentioned an actual medical procedure, something other than injecting disinfectant, it'd still probably be fucking stupid. "Water bombing" is an actual technique firefighters use, for example, but his suggesting its use during the Notre Dame fires was idiotic. Hydroxychloroquine is a very real medication, with legitimate uses, but again, his suggestion that it should be used to deal with COVID-19 is fucking absurd.
Now, of course, his cultists want to argue the point. They want to hem and haw about how the President is "examining all options" or "just making suggestions." But here's the thing: any halfway decent human being would recognize the power inherent in their position and make sure they had their facts straight before they went out into a room full of reporters and started talking.
The best case scenario for Trump is that he's legitimately heard of some medical procedures that involve disinfectant and sunlight, but then not bothered to write their names down or remember them when speaking to hundreds of millions of people, forgot or chose not to talk to any of the brilliant staff at his disposal who are experts in the field, and lacked the common sense to think "I really don't fully understand this myself, maybe I should ask Dr. Fauci if we're actually doing anything like this."
This isn't the first time that he's done stuff like this. Remember the time he detailed a completely fictional conversation with an unnamed individual in the Navy where he claimed to tell them that they were to cease outfitting aircraft carriers with electronic jet launchers and go back to steam launchers? That conversation never happened. The Navy had no fucking clue what he was talking about. The same thing happened when he blindsided the military (and the Kurds) in Syria, or when he abruptly decided to ban transgender men and women from serving in the military (something that never even came to fruition, last I checked).
The best case scenario for Trump supporters, is that they support someone who lacks enough insight to recognize that he needs to research what he's talking about and run it past the experts in his corner before going on national television to talk about it. That's a huge problem. That alone would be enough to disqualify someone from being a mayor, let alone the "leader of the free world."
The sooner we ditch this joker, the better.
