What’s the Point of Growing a Following in Today’s Economy?

in #triptolemus6 years ago

I’ve mentioned in a post long ago that we live in the most interesting of times. Technology is progressing at an exponential rate, people are evolving, relationships and communications are evolving and really, the whole world is evolving around us as we speak.

Things are so different today than they were 10 years ago. Just think about it.

The iPhone came out about 10 years ago and changed the way we communicate with each other and literally the way that we interface with the world.

When you go on a train, bus or plane, what do you see? You see hundreds of people looking at their smartphones.

The craziest part of that is that all of these people are interwoven into this extremely complex and huge web of communication.

They can send a tweet, make a phone call, send a text, or even make a post on Steemit and reach people who are miles away in another country. Even people who are on the other side of the planet. How crazy is that? We couldn’t even do that 10 years ago…

So What’s The Point of Growing a Following on Various Social Medias?

The idea of growing your following is akin to building your resume, in my opinion.

To our parents and even to us, building your resume is tantamount to getting a good job. But what do you do in this new economy that it seems that we’re heading towards?

This economy of social media. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the emerging Steem DApps are making it easier than ever to earn a living from your creativity and online presence rather than from your resume and ability to follow your boss’s orders!

If you want to plant your flag, if you want to make your mark in the world and join this new economy then you’ll have to grow your following and influence on these various platforms.

It takes a lot of work, especially because these platforms are continually becoming more and more saturated. But it’s most definitely possible.

In fact, if you put in consistent, creative and hard work into growing your following on Steem, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. then you will see something amazing happen in due time.

It may take 1 month, 10 months or even 10 years, but it will happen eventually.

Hitting a certain apex in your following will allow you to do it full-time rather than work a job.

Instead of building a resume and then looking for a job, you’ll build your following and your creative portfolio of posts and then leverage that to get paid by sponsors or maybe even make your own brand of products to promote yourself.

The possibilities in this new economy are endless, but you have to build your influence first. So get after it.

Sort:

In a nutshell steem is the most rewarding platform for anyone today.

Thanks for that post may we are able to share some point in the economically views.
Here lot if sharing step to hold econome status for the bright future.
Wel steem base comes for growing your economical life.

Very interesting. With Steemit and other social media like lit or Dtube you can actually see live which impact a large number of followers can have. With Instagram and others this is unseen until you have millions. It gives you power to influence masses. You can plant an idea of any product or service in people's minds and this bears a large responsibility

Good catch... Good article.... Good way of considering modern economy and economy of technology 👌💪 well done my friend... I like your page very much ...

fantastic post.

Build influence is the best and hard part of the process.

I agree with a lot of what you said and also that the importance of building this following as a resume grossly depends on your field as well!

networking on any social media platform is important. Don't spread yourself too thin trying to be a part of them all. Find the ones that work the best for you. Work them like a pro. A couple of great social media accounts are better than 20 so so social media accounts!
Networking is today's word of mouth!

true, everything is progressing too fast, all evolve to the point that nothing is stable, for the simple fact that we change the human being by a cell phone or by a technological device, because I say it? before the youth had fun with their friends in the park, now friendship begins with a request for friendship facebook, the best toy is a play or a wii .. and that has made life easier but it takes us away from everything physically because everything is cybernetically .. and your resume as you call it, is a little higher and guarantees a less effort to work hehe .. every day I see the human being more clinging to a computer: D and that includes me ahahaha I like your publication (Y)
Regards..

Steem is great but not eberyone van expect to make a living out of it. We need people to do jobs that matter and take more than just writing a post. I will always be a steemit platform user unless it goes down but I do not expect to make a living from this. Just have some fun, small rewards, and stay informed on any crypto related news.
