Fourth of July, how it feels to be native.
@tawasi
It's difficult to be an indigenous person on the Fourth of July. So many massacres and broken treaties.
Decades of land theft and cultural destruction. Leading us to this point where we are told that indigenous people crossing an imaginary line deserve to be interned in concentration camps.
Let that one soak in for a second, because it's important to understand that the people in these concentration camps are in large part indigenous people from central and South America.
What is it About Play?
@solarsupermama
We all know how passionate I am about kids and their rights and freedom. It's my thing. You know, everyone has something they get passionate about. For me it's kids and education.
When we first started the school we had in Asheville, I was sort of surprised that we attracted certain types of parents. One that surprised me a lot was the ultra permissive parent. I guess it was easy to mistake the philosophy of our school for that. After all students were allowed to do what they wanted all day long.
Surveillance Education to Control Children from 'Cradle to Career'
@krnel
What a diabolical society we are constructing! It's scary to see the support being garnered by people who are motivated by fear and control. The latest move to control society is getting a start from the time children enter the educational system.
California has recently approved legislation to introduce big data into the educational system. The goal is to essentially track children from cradle to career. The amount of politicians who support his hyped up control of society is alarming. Senate Bill 75 was approved by a vote of 31-7 in the Senate and 62-14 in the Assembly, which was then signed by by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Rare Miami Forest Will Be Destroyed To Make Room For Walmart
@johnvibes
The Walmart corporation has earned a reputation for destroying natural habitats, and sacred Native American sites to build their stores. Even though there is plenty of other property for sale, Walmart seems to choose some of the most sensitive areas for construction. According to a report in the Miami Herald this month, a developer is planning on tearing down a rare rainforest in Florida, so the area can be turned into a shopping center that would include a Walmart, an L.A Fitness and an apartment complex.

Artificial Connections & Honesty's Protections - A Discussion with a Remedy of Cannabis
@elamental
Fabricated interpersonal magnetic connections caused by projected intuition interference. A philosophical discussion about honesty, truth, and the clarity and opportunities they provide.
I created this video to discuss how I am dealing with a very problematic and personal issue of dishonesty, with someone who was very close to the source of my being for a long time. It always hurts that much more when it is someone that had your trust.
99 REASONS WHY EARTHSHIP S ARE FUC*!NG AWESOME COMPILATION
@eco-alex
Some of you may have noticed this series come out in parts. I'm sure it was hard to catch them all, and if there is one series that needs a compilation it is this one! This post will now make up the content of my second book, that is now close to completion! I will be looking for a publisher very shortly, and hope to avoid using the dreaded Amazon and their centralised model of commerce.. which can be hard to do as these behemoths get bigger and more powerful. So, if any of you know of a good ethical publisher who covers ecological themes I'd love to hear from you!
The Healing Power of Water - My Natural Medicine Story...
@porters
I've always been a bit of a water baby. People would often say I'm part fish!
In my younger days, summer was spent at the cottage with a big part of the time in the water.
I spent my teen years playing water-polo and my first job was as a lifeguard, going on to be a swimming instructor.
A lot of time was spent in the water or around water but where I really experienced the healing power of water was in my recovery from a broken neck I got in a car accident . I was left paralyzed - you can read about my over coming paralysis here.
The Truth, the whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth
@nomad-magus
One of my favorite topics to talk about is justice, truth, and honesty.
Maybe because I was born Libra. Maybe because I studied law and practice that profession for a decade or so. The Renaissance author, Sir Francis Bacon once said: "A liar is a hero against God and a coward with people".
Why do people lie? In particular, why do people lie while they are in a relationship? Why do they lie to their partners, the ones they suppose to love more than anything? and what could be considered a lie anyhow?
A few words about the Solar Eclipse -- and what one means in Astrology
@enchantedspirit
The New Moon on Tuesday arrived along with a Solar Eclipse at 11° of Cancer. If you have personal planets in this mid-range of degrees -- from 10 - 22° -- especially in Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn) -- these next six months may have some powerful adjustments, psychological confrontations and significant course corrections in store for you.
It's not a reason to worry. It's all part of the process of personal growth, which is itself the business of life. It's just time for some extra attention to any individual issues involved -- and these will be different for everyone. I'll make some general predictions on this in future posts, but knowing how these energies affect your Natal Chart -- and therefore, your life, is indispensable now. It helps you know what to look for -- and how to help things progress when the invitations show up.
Hypnosis - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Part 2. My journey
@misslasvegas
The start of my journey
I started my journey in the world of hypnosis years ago, as a teen, by reading every book I could find about the subject in our local library. Of course, I had no understanding of a lot of the information that was provided and being an impatient teenager, I only sifted through what I thought were the most important parts. However, it's always remained in the back of my mind, even the 'less important stuff'. Years later when I started my studies, I realized that I must have moved it to my subconscious mind and that part of it had always been in my unconscious mind somehow, because by the time I started my course, things just fell into place and I already knew a lot of what our teachers tried to teach us, without ever 'learning' it.
Can We Make the Environment Profitable?
@minismallholding
We've been watching Our Planet and something that got me thinking was the view of the palm oil plantations which are taking over the rainforests. You may have seen campaigns against buying products with palm oil to discourage the growing of these trees at such commercial levels and orangutans are often cited as the reason why. Borneo, where most of them live, has had half of their jungle cleared and as a result of this, around 100,000 them have been lost in the past 20 years.
Our Planet is suggesting a move to sustainable palm oil from growers who are using previously cleared land, which has been sitting unused, and those who are taking steps to regrow the jungle around the plantations. This is certainly a step in the right direction, but will it work and is it enough?
How Plants and Food Gave Me Back My Life
@alchemage
Natural medicines have been the staple to me finding health again for many years. Just the past three years I've put in so much work that its difficult to really document everything I've accomplished in moving forward. Having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2016, plants and healthy food are what gave me a semblance of life. For the longest time I could not eat or even drink water without severe pain and discomfort. However, I dove down many rabbit holes in order to come out on top and come from being sick every moment of every day to now working out and studying to become a Naturopathic Doctor.
I am my occupation, nothing more.
@whatamidoing
Most work days I'm craving freedom. I feel as if work is holding me back from all the things i want to do, draining my energy and wasting my time. I have to concentrate all my attention and can't do my own thing at all during working hours. It can be very tiring to concentrate. So I often find myself wishing I was free.
But what if I'm looking at it all wrong. What if work is there to motivate me to put more energy into my own passions, to keep my mind from wandering, to help me learn concentration, to teach me things I need to know.
Coffee Culture, Community and.... Compost
@artemislives
The unlikely trio of coffee culture, community and compost have become inextricably entwined in my herbal work with the indigenous Karen community along the Thai Burmese border.
Like most brilliant ideas, it started out simply and clearly enough: empower the indigenous people with no food and no income to become self-sustaining by growing local herbs which my natural product business needs & will buy back at confirmed, current market prices. Cut out several middlemen, everybody wins, especially Mother Earth.
Wond'rous Stories
@metametheus
I first became intrigued by the notion of 'medicine stories' when I read the story in the first five issues of Legends of the Dark Knight, Shaman by Dennis O'Neil. The idea that a story had healing powers stuck with me, and I think that was when I started to look at superhero comics as modern-day mythologies (in the Barthesian sense). How could the tales of these lycra-clad demigods heal me?
In this story there is a mask that is work by an indigenous shaman when telling the story of how Bat healed the Raven by blowing his sickness away. The telling of the story (with the mask) is used to heal others, and gives Bruce Wayne a different perspective on his role as Batman.
Free Thinker Radio (6/28/19): Millions March Against Mandatory Vaccines
@dbroze
My Fascination With Mushrooms
@trucklife-family
I have always been fascinated by mushrooms. As a child, it didn't take much to imagine how they could come to life to protect the faerie folk that lived amongst them. Because everyone knows that mushrooms and faerie folk go hand in hand, right? That was pretty obvious to me when I was growing up.
I remember going on walks as a child and being so excited when I saw mushrooms growing on the ground or on the trees, I knew that there had to be faeries around and that I had probably just missed seeing them, because we all know that faeries do not like to be seen, (unless you are very lucky). I would sit ,for a long time, trying my best to be as quiet as possible just in case one did decide to come back.
Starting a New Movement - a healthy mind in a healthy body
@vincentnijman
This morning, I woke up feeling extremely tired and with an upset stomach. My plan had been to rise around sunrise ( 6.10am ). To make this happen I had gone to bed early, but my night was a restless one. I woke up several times and when I finally woke up around 6:30, I felt too tired and fell asleep again, twice. Eventually, I managed to drag myself out of bed just before 9am.
Long story short: I'm fine now. It's 11:30am. I just came back from my local restaurant, where I had dois cafés cheios ( strong, small coffees ) and uma tosta mista com ovo ( grilled ham and cheese sandwich, with a fried egg added to the mix )

Put Stock In Yourself! A Holistic Approach to (Cryptocurrency) Investing.
@ura-soul
Invest in that which empowers you and other people in a balanced way, instead of in what exploits the planet and that ultimately strips us of our ability to live into the future.
Check the real world effects of you putting your money and resources into a project. Does it result in genuine value for society or is it just a mental exercise of number manipulation? By ensuring that a project’s objectives are aligned in a balanced way with the real needs of society, we create a knock on effect of empowerment that helps those who are best suited to help everyone.
There might be a lot of ‘profit’ in investing in weapons manufacturer’s, for example, but how does that help you if you and your children are killed in a war as a result?
Wow, thanks for the mention! It's an honour! And now I will not see my bed any time soon...too much to read :)
Thanks for the shout-out!! Looks like a lot of delicious stuff here!!
