What Does The Term Re-Wilding Mean To You? and do you think it is important to re-wild ourselvesThis is my response to the #tribesteemup bi-weekly question.

What does the wild mean

Rewild means to get closer to our instincts, intuition, and intelligence.

My Approach

This was an interesting question, because when I finally wanted to write about it, my laptop charger stopped working. So, I decided to do a stream of conscious recording to a speech-to-text app on my smart phone...about re-wilding. I find this question funny because of how we are mainly connected nowadays. I'm writing this post using a small computer that is translating my voice into written text, then I'm putting this written text on a blockchain that is connected to thousands of computers, so that million can see it.

Although I desire sticking my feet into the earth everyday, I found a more abstract forms of re-wilding; as I understand it. This isn't really, "what is re-wilding", yet more "how to re-wild in the modern age". I have introduced these ways of living into my life, which has felt like re-wilding.

No More Schedule

Breaking out of the 9 to 5 job and not having a specific schedule day today from Monday through Friday. Simple enough, yet one of the most exciting decision a person can make to tune into their wild side.

There are rhythms for humans in the wild. There is no plan, there is no schedule, there is no calendar. Seasons and climates slowly change, and since we are exposed to the elements, we had to adapt. We feel the pattern of the sun and moon, and no longer listen to the ebb and flow of rush hour and anthropocentric holidays

Nomadic

Another modern way of re-wilding is travel. In modern times we don't live nomadically. We sleep in the same bed, same house, with the same routine. To travel is to constantly move and explore invokes curiosity and openness. There are many different forms of travel. The most affective form that has made me feel wild is the one where I don't know where I'm going to sleep next week and don't have a place to go back to. As a disclaimer, I don't believe that settling down is a bad thing. When done conscious, it can be equally nomadic as traveling.

A Day off Tech

I used to be more serious about this. When I was working 40 hours a week in the tech industry, every Sunday use little to no technology, avoid intense reading, thinking, anything with a cognitive load. This allowed me to dive deep and see my instincts, emotions, reactions as they unfolded.

What I would like to see in my life

I'd love to search for food in the woods, go backpacking, and spend more time in the deep silence of the wild.

Yet re-wilding is a tough thing. We live a very of modern society of laws and comforts. Our cultural defense mechanism may cause resistance; even with these abstract forms of re-wilding.

Why is re-wilding important

Intuition and feeling deeply who we are primitively.

Thank you @trucklife-family and TSU for this awesome questions!
