Tree Tuesday and Thoughtful Daily Post

in #treetuesday5 years ago (edited)

Today is #treetuesday a tag hosted by @old-guy-photos.

First, I will start off with a thoughtful quote inspired by @wesphilbin. Check Here for more info.

My hummingbird photo edited for printed quote. I don’t know where the quote originated ~ I have heard it quite often.

Edited: #wesphilbin found out the author of the quote is Bill Keane.

Two grackles have been around the yard and raising some babies in a nest near the garage. They are territorial and furiously squawking at me if I am anywhere near the nest. It’s hidden in a thickly branched cedar tree. This morning I saw the pair putting the run to a squirrel who came near the tree.

One of the grackles in the poplar tree keeping an eye out for any danger.

Looking up through a maple tree. #lookingup is inspired by @melinda010100.

The spruce tree has new growth.

In closing , a tree that has seen better days. It was on the ground in the forest behind the house and slowly decaying back to the earth.

Nice pictures. I'm liking the shot look up the tree, those are becoming more popular.

Great quote too.

Thanks @tryskele! Yes, the looking up shots are becoming popular. A different way of looking at things. 😊

Thanks! Much appreciated @steemitbloggers.

what a wonderful quote! It reminds me always to be focused NOW and not dwell on what would happen tomorrow or what happened in the past.

Thanks @nurseanne84. I’m glad you liked the quote.

That's some wonderful pictures. Thanks :)

I love trees

Thanks for stopping by @wales. They love you too. 💕 🌲

Thanks @brittandjosie! I’m happy you liked it. #wesphilbin has started a great tag. 😊

I believe I have seen that quote used in Kung Fu Panda but if it originated from there, I don't know, probably not. It's just where I associate it from lol.

Nice snaps of the trees here and the grackles 🙂

Thanks @nickyhavey! Wes Philbin found out it was a quote by Bill Keane. I will acknowledge it on the post now.

Ah interesting. I had a feeling that Kung Fu Panda didn't come up with the original saying somehow 😁

I believe we have grackles only I did not know what they were called.
Have a great week. :)

Hi @rebeccabe! The grackles here, when they aren’t squawking at everyone to keep away, have a cry like a rusty hinge.

What a lovely way to acknowledge a decaying tree - giving back! Great pics and quote, too!

Thanks Fiona! 😊

I had no idea she had the looking up tag. I have always looked up trees. They are uber cool that way. I do it daily. :)

Oh, that poor tree that is going back from whence it came. I find that there is always beauty in the demise of things. Touching shot.

Aren't grackles the funniest!!!?? They are so territorial, much like a Mockingbird and the swallow that is occupying my mailbox! (the lower newspaper part) This was a wonderful post with beautiful thoughts. I love that quote and I love your heart.

Have a most wonderful day!

Hi Denise. Thanks for your generosity and lovely comments. 💕

I don’t know how Melinda does it. She keeps us on our toes with her wonderful tags. Along with the photo shadows contest she volunteered to keep #featheredfriday going when Keith wasn’t able to continue with it.

I was amazed at these grackles getting so worked up. The blue jays are quiet compared to them.

She is truly amazing. I have a hard enough time keeping up although between commuting into the city and working full time plus, I am happy to barely get it done. I am not allowed a phone in work, so that really hurts!!! LOL Although, there is big guilt that I run behind some days.

But, it's all good. :)

Wow! I think you are a powerhouse too, Denise with all you do. ❤️

Oh, silly girl!!! I was just giving you reasons why I am always and forever running to keep up! ;) It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I hope you are having an amazing day also!

And you are always saying the sweetest things! ❤️

Thanks Traci and for the GIF. 😊

You're very welcome, Joanne! 😊

@redheadpei

Oh but what a wonderful post!! Bill Keane is actually the creator of that quote... I only know because I was compelled to look it up. He was also most remembered as the cartoonist for the The Family Circus... a perfect #treetuesday #lookingup and #tdp conglomeration-thingy-ma-bob!! Beautiful photographs... we had a hummingbird feeder and had several that used to come to visit, but ants covered the feeder... the hummingbirds didn't care for that...

Grackles we don't have, but do have PLENTY of squirrels, tit-mouse, red-headed woodpeckers, and of course, our piliated woodpeckers... our trees are lovely most of the time... though many are dying because this area is infested with termites. And... I don't mean just our property... it is like someone dropped a termite-bomb over this entire area... blah!! Your last photo was indeed touching:

In closing , a tree that has seen better days. It was on the ground in the forest behind the house and slowly decaying back to the earth.

To so many, it would be just that... a dead tree... or perhaps firewood... I think of the movie, "Avatar" where the race of people were all connected, through the roots of the trees... See? Your post has made me #thoughtful... and in closing... I would like to return the love for such a WONDERFUL post, with another quote by Bill Keane...

“Your mind is like this water, my friend. When it is agitated, it becomes difficult to see. But if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear.”
― Bil Keane

Thank you again, my friend...
Wes

Thanks Wes for your lovely comments and for finding the author of the quote. Will add it to the post.
Blessings my friend.,
Jo

Most welcome... I had no idea who he was... but did remember the cartoon series! Another example of being thoughtful ;)

Trees always have some intriguing story @redheadpei keep looking at the old dead tree stump you may find some fungi soon after rains.

We have had lots of rain so there should be lots of fungi gathering on the dead stump. 😊

Look forward to seeing the photo's once they appear.

Great photos, upvoted, good to meet you here on PHC.

Thanks @julianhorack. Nice to meet you here too. 😊

Your Grackles look very much like our Drongos my friend and they have the same habits when it come to the nest. No one is allowed near it and they will fight anything big or small.
Love photos and great quote here!
Blessings!

Thanks Stephen! Happy you liked the post and many blessings to you my friend.

Nice pictures there brother. Careful though, they could be relentless when it comes to protecting they're family. Cheers!

Thanks @jonsnow and for stopping by. Yes they can be aggressive.

That's a beautiful quote and some really nice pics. Great post and well deserving of the rally upvote!

Thanks @blueeyes8960. Appreciate your kind comments. 😊

I really love the picture of the new growth on the spruce tree, @redheadpei. It practically glows with life!

Hi Jayna. I’m happy your like the photo. Everything is coming to life around here after the long cold winter. 😊

Those grackles are very territorial, and so are mockingbirds, Texas 🇨🇱 State bird.

A part of the song (Mockingbird Hill) for you @wonderwop.

🎶 Tra la la, tweedle dee dee dee
It gives me a thrill
To wake up in the morning
To the mockingbird's trill
Tra la la tweedle dee dee dee
There's peace and good will
You're welcome as the flowers
On Mockingbird Hill 🎼

Congratulations @redheadpei!
