Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I would like to take you to a place that is very special to all Czech people, the legendary Mount Rip.

Located just outside the village of Mnetes in the Northwestern Czech Republic, the Mount Rip is a solitary hill covered with forests. It is actually now very high, standing just 455 m (1,493 ft) tall but since it is located on an extensive flatland, it is visible from all sides, creating a dominant feature of the area.

The prominent location of the mountain is believed to be the reason why, according to a popular Czech legend, the Forefather Czech led his Slavic tribe towards it. When he climbed the hill, he allegedly looked over the landscapes below and decided to settle there.

Based on this legend, the Mount Rip is considered the birthplace of the Czech nation and its history and is therefore a very popular place among domestic visitors. There are several hiking trails leading to the top of the hill where the Romanesque Rotunda of St. George is also found. Dating back to the early 12th century (or possibly even the 11th century), it is one of the oldest churches in the country.
The Mount Rip is also the site of the annual Rip Pilgrimage where participants can pay tribute to the Forefather Czech.

Very beautiful scenery @czehglobalhosts!
With all the reason it has been found there because it is a very beautiful place and it looks calm, with looking at it transmits a lot of peace. Thank you for sharing a part of that region. Regards
Love the architecture in the Czech Republic! I was in Krumau last weekend and it's such a beautiful little city. Feels almost like a movie set with the alleys, the old half-timber houses and the even older castles. I feel like Czech Republic is absolutely underestimated by many tourists visiting to Europe (except for Prague maybe).
because of your blog im thinking to do a Czech trip to see all amazing places there :)
thanks for sharing all the photos and interesting information about your country and the amazing places on this planet
Some of us will never go--I know I won't be able to. But you bring your culture, the beauty of your homeland to us. It's easy to post a picture, and I love those, but you give us a feel for the land and the people. I'm going to look up the history of the Czech Republic--I don't mean the recent history, I mean the origins of the people who settled the land--right now. My way of traveling to places I'll never actually see.
I just started reading--came across something you might find interesting. According to Genomac (genetic testing firm) the Czech community is very interrelated: "I would say maybe out of the hundred percent of people, maybe 70 percent will definitely find somebody who is related to them". Even though people may not be aware of these bonds, this must make for a culturally cohesive society. Does it?
