My Journey To The Cool City of Takengon Part I

in #traveling6 years ago

hay steemian friend.
I will share a long story when traveling to Takengon city in Central Aceh became 3 sessions based on my long time there for 3 days. Create a passionate desire and desire to want Takengon city, see my brief trip for 3 days. My confession to the city of Takengon came since my friend in a lecture from Takengon told me about the festival that will be held in the near future in Takengon. The festival is a Horse Race, which is located in the city of Takengon. I wanted to take a photo of the race and add to the collection of portfolios, which I did not find in such festivals in North Sumatera. From that day forward, it's time for me to schedule an appointment and sufficient funds (I will provide the itinerary and the price). I arranged my Friday night departure schedule with Medan - Takengon bus with Scania Bus. The bus is very comfortable, cool, equipped with blankets, pillows, bolsters and bathroom, but no Wifi. The cost incurred for this bus is Rp 160.000, -. The journey took about 11 hours, and the next morning arrived at Takengon Bus Terminal at 7.30 am which my college friend had been waiting for. Alhamdullilah during the trip by bus I was not nauseous - nausea to vomiting, just nervous: D. The journey to our Takengon city will surround many beautiful mountains and hills, and many of us go through the sharp tackles, resulting in those who have headaches - dizziness aka easy to get drunk, it is advisable to take travel pills and avoid eating heavy before travel, at least before 1 - 2 hours of departure already eat and take medicine.

First set foot in the land Takengon, brrrrrrrr .... Cold !!!! I was wrong in wearing a costume, not carrying a thick jacket, consequently since leaving from the arrival bus terminal to the residence of my friend's place to stay, the cold of the morning continued to pierce the skin sharply. At 10.00 it was time to go to the racetrack festival which was already entered into the semifinals. Horse races are held every 2 years, around January and August for 1 week at different places. Hundreds of horses from various regions in Central Aceh, gathering and fighting for the prize of tens of millions of rupiah. The journey to the location by motorbike takes 30 minutes, many people are enthusiastic to watch the final racetrack, the flow of travel jammed a few minutes.

Entrance fee to the festival of Rp 5,000, -, then you are free to enter and witness thousands of pairs of eyes that can not wait for the race begins. Around the festival area many traders peddle dozens of types of merchandise that you can buy before the race begins. When it gets to the middle of the festival, it's time to find the best spot to take a photo, even though the audience is axious to watch as well.

In the sunny weather and the heat of the sun did not lower my intentions and friends to hunting photos together, I can not wait to set my camera mode to Continuous Shoot mode and press the shutter button. I brought not too much camera equipment, the following equipment I brought for this trip:

  1. One body Canon 60D
  2. camera Telephoto Lens Tamron SP 70-300 f / 4 - 5.6 VC In USD
  3. One standard zoom Canon EF-S 18-55 mm f / 3.5 - 5.6 IS Lens
  4. Three batteries
  5. Three filters (CPL, ND, UV)
  6. Three memory cards, as well
  7. Three step up ring.
It was heard from a distance that the first race of the horse race was about to begin, and I was getting ready with the camera and the right position to get a good angle too. The absence of the cue from the announcer as usual 1 ... .3, suddenly the horse has been released which is accompanied by the noise of the audience, making the "cervix" shudder because of the thrill of the atmosphere. As the horse reached the first corner and I saw a horse heading towards me with a thick dust swish by the hooves, I immediately arranged the composition as quickly as possible through the viewfinder, and instantly the camera shutter sounded dashingly for me at high speed. Wuuusshhh, after the horse left me, then check the result, just some photos that make me quite satisfied, and ready to take another photo in different spots. Unfortunately in the racetrack a lot of rubbish berserekan, may the people there more concerned about the cleanliness of the environment of his city. Here are the results of the photo for the horse race semi-final, need more work for editing remove garbage - garbage that looks on the photos.

After the semi-final of the racetrack finished and it was announced who the winner was, the time was 13:20, the weather was getting hotter and the dust started fluttering the visitors, me and my friends rushed off the scene and would come back the next day for the final schedule on Sunday. The next destination to go to the mosque for Dzuhur prayer, the mosque we will go to is Takengon highway mosque, Ruhama Great Mosque. This mosque has many pillars and coincidence is still in the stage of renovation due to earthquake disaster that occurred some time ago. After praying Dzuhur, I immediately rushed to prepare my camera to immortalize this beautiful mosque. With Full Manual mode, start taking photos with RAW, so that later more freely edit them on the computer. Here are the results:

The time is 15:00, the next destination goes to the famous Central Aceh hero monument in Takengon, the Aman Dimot monument which means the monument of his father Dimot, so the narrative of my friend. This monument is close to Takuhon Ruhama Raya Mosque, and can walk to get there. The location of this monument merges with the office of the Regent of Central Aceh, to enter the location, first excuse the security guard on duty there. This monument is good for you to capture and take pictures there. Not long after I set up a tripod by capturing a photo with Exposure Compensation and change it later to HDR, and I also made it with Timelapse. Not spared also the office of a magnificent regent standing in the middle of Takengon city.tugu-amat-dimot-takengon.jpg

The next destination to the traditional house Takengon, namely Umah Pitu Space, which means House with 7 (Seven) Doors. The house is still well maintained, and seems also under renovation. Rushing directly set up a tripod and I set the camera into Manual Mode with Exposure Compensation setting. Since I set it to Exposure Compensation, where the photo will take three RAW photos with different exposures, namely Under Exposure (-2), Normal Exposure (+0), and Over Exposure (+2), I will merge the three photos into HDR with using Adobe Lightroom 6 software. With HDR (High Dynamic Range), we will be easy to raise Shadow, Highlight, avoid noise, and a lot of detail that tereskpos well. Try to take with a tripod, and take photos with a timer or remote, to avoid the blur.rumah-adat-pitu-ruang-takengon.jpg

Going around a daily in Takengon for the first day is over and will continue on the next day is more exciting, challenging, and will explore the beautiful places in Takengon. Can not wait what place I will visit next? The story will continue into session 2 immediately.
