Staying in the Triana District

In the heart of the ceramic industry

We spent three weeks traveling in Spain. From Madrid we caught a flight north to San Sebastian, a beautiful smaller city on the Atlantic near the French border. After that we drove through Spain, staying in Segovia, Salamanca, Toledo, Granada, Nerja, Ronda, and Seville. Our Seville apartment was in the Triana district, where a thriving ceramics trade once flourished. There are still a number workshops here, and it was interesting wandering through their dusty shops.

We walked across the Puente de Triana to wander through the narrow streets of the old town and Jewish section. I sketched this in one of the squares there. The ceramic pieces in the photo are from a couple shops near our apartment.
