When I was about 11 my family and I went on an Alaska trip. It was a cruise so we spent most of our time on board which was pretty boring for a kid. For the most part, I was pretty underwhelmed by the scenery at that time. However, as I got older I started to appreciate the subtle beauty of the muted tones of snowy places. Today a friend of mine sent me this picture of the Alaskan skyline and I have to admit that it is indeed breathtaking.
