Hello my beautiful loves, today I'm excited to tell you about my experience in Mount Roraima, the best thing is that I didn't go by plane, but by walking for 7 days.
It all started in 2016 while studying 8th semester of Environmental Engineering, the professor of Hydraulics came with the proposal to climb the Roraima my closest friends agreed to go, and of course me. We arrived in Santa Elena de Uairen, Bolivar State, better known as La Gran Sabana! We went for a walk along the Linea, border with Brazil, to quickly organize ourselves and leave the next day to the summit.
When the day arrived we went to the rustic car to travel 90 km to reach the camp KUKENAZ, where we would
begin the journey of walking for 7 days.
We were guided by two Indians, they know the summit to perfection, apart from being our guides they took our food supplies, except water, each person brought his thermos that was recharged at the time of reaching the few rivers that emerge from the waterfalls of Roraima. We had to avoid so many stops in order to get there a little faster and spend more time at the top, the truth is that we did not care but to enjoy all the beauty of the savannah. We arrived at the first stop, TEK RIVER! where we camped and relaxed in the freezing cold water, perfect for tired feet.
The next day we continued the hike to the Kukenan River, the sun was inclement, the thirst was unstoppable and we had to continue, we decided to camp in Kukenan, the skin burning, the cold at 6:00 pm and the ice water, what a DELIGHT!
The next morning we continued to base camp, the same insurmountable sun, trying not to drink too much water because there were no streams until we arrived. As I advanced I felt the imposing Roraima super close and I could not even touch it. When we arrived at the base camp we quickly set up the tents to take a bath and drink water, if the water felt freezing in the two previous rivers, this one does not compare, smoke came out of the icy water, I could not stay with the desire, so much so that my breathing became short to withstand the cold so unbearable that then it was so cold.
The big day arrived, to reach the Roraima, my emotions were running high, we continued to continue the walk, many steep slopes, the sun was not so intense, the trees prevented in certain places that the sun's rays were intense, beautiful waterfalls emerged from the wall of Roraima, what a refreshing water! finally I could look at the sky and feel a huge wall unreachable.
A beautiful viewpoint where I could observe the whole savannah. WE ARRIVED AT THE PASO DE LAS LAGRIMAS! The only final access to be at the top, it is incredible the natural rocky ramp that goes from right to left through the jungle we climbed up the side of the cliffs, we were already at an altitude of 2700 meters. WHAT A SPECTACULAR!
RORAIMA! finally at the top, it was so cold, it was all cloudy unfortunately everything was filled with clouds, one of the myths our guides said that we could not scream because the sun did not come out, it is totally true, the sun never came out while we were there, it felt so good to scream and laugh out loud at the top. The hotels where we camped were rock formations in fact they are the oldest geological formations on Earth approximately two billion years ago in the Precambrian.
The majestic natural Jacuzzis were my favorite part of the trip, it was so cold, for not walking a little faster we could not get to the triple point, but I knew certain places like the window. Nature does incredible things, Roraima is synonymous of perfection.
We returned on the third day of being at the top, we stayed in Rio TEK, finally the next day we were already in Kukenaz Camp to rest and return home, I lost two nails of the big toes, due to the friction of the shoes when descending the summit.
THE BEST TRIP IN THE WORLD! being the Tepuy Roraima the highest point of the chain of tepuis of the Pacaraima mountain range of South America with 2810 m above sea level .
Espero te haya encantado. ¡Fue fascinante! ❤️
