Mud volcanos - Challenge stay at home (Day 4)

in #travelathome5 years ago

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the next fun day created by @psos under hashtag #travelathome.

Today we are also in the Asia and I would like to show you pictures from the trip to Gobustan in Azerbaijan.

Gobustan is mainly known for its mud volcanoes. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Azerbaijan and at the same time an interesting natural phenomenon. In Azerbaijan there are almost half of the 800 mud volcanoes that occur in the world.

The presence of mud volcanoes is closely related to the presence of gas and oil deposits. The gas, usually deposited at very great depths, rises upwards, encounters an obstacle in the form of groundwater, this "explosive" mixture of water and gas captures clay, dolomites, shale and sand and rises upwards and finally throws it outwards with great force.

The cones are from a few centimeters to a few meters high and due to their uncontrolled eruption, it is best to be cautious when approaching close - mud stains are difficult to rub off.

Today some more pictures to show you the uniqueness of mud volcanoes. We were playing with them like children. 😄

All pictures were taken by phone so I apologize for a quality.
Thank you for reading and I invite all to join to challenge #travelathome.

See you tomorrow!
