Very nice travel report.
I have been in Japan 3 times but never around Kyoto.
What is the best season to visit kyoto?

    During the cherry blossom season I believe, but if you don't like crowds then when we went was nice :) I think October would be slightly warmer, it started to get pretty chilly when we were there.
