Weekendino in Prague

Today with my girlfriend we passed this square. It was a bit crowded with tourists, and some people entertained tourists with Polar Bear and Panda costumes. In between stands this beautiful sculpture that adorns the whole square. At the side of the square you can see the old firehouse with a gold-colored helmet on its roof. The Old town is great but as you walk around be aware of scam money changers that look legit. Everyone warns you but I still almost got caught. Looking at the board it is very easy to see the buy versus sell amounts and decide to convert. You put your money out, they take it and then print and exchange receipt for you to sign. At which time if you read what they want you to sign you will note the numbers don't match up. In the fine print on the board or on a sign in Czech you will notice that have a 19% service charge. Just say no, get your money back, and walk away. There are numerous honest exchanges everywhere but the scam exchangers often have a Western Union sign on the main tourist track so you think they are legit. Not a bad way to make a living 19% which doesn't even include the normal mark up.
