Mabuhay! There is an old lodging house in Manila that you could stay for days on a budget. It is a place where I recommend for backpackers and for those travelers who are not fussy.
How to locate the house
Source: Google Maps
Address Villa Carolina Townhouse, 31 Bayview Drive, Paranaque City, Metro-Manila
They have five room rates which I doubt if they offer the low rates to guest. I've been a guest twice and they offered the Php 1,000 room rate all the time. They don't require a deposit for reservation but they do honor the first come first served policy unless a reservation is paid in advance.
Here are their room rates
P500, P600, P700, P1000/ night, good for 2 pax and with an additional Php 150.00 for an extra person.
They don't offer breakfast meals but they allow guests to cook in their kitchen for Php 35.00. However, we still have to ask for permission for them to know who will use their kitchen. Moreover, since the place is located in the bustling area, fast foods and convenient stores are walking distance from the house.
They also have a promo where they have a weekly discount of one night free (i.e. pay 6 nights, stay for 7) if you pay in advance.
Me and my friends availed the promo because we planned to stay in the house for 10 days because we were looking for a dormitory house to transfer.
In addition, we chose this cheap hostel because it is near to Newport City for our interviews in a hotel. The hostel is near to the airport and it would be a good place to leave your bags and enjoy Manila for awhile.
This is our second room which is very big compared to the first room we got because this room was unavailable at that time we checked in.
Their rooms are air-conditioned rooms with private bathroom, electric hot shower and a cable TV.
The house is filled with paintings, maps, books and souvenirs from other countries. The place is like a mini museum for backpackers.
They have hundreds of books for guests to read. This hostel may not be following the latest trend in the hospitality industry but I know some people would not mind and would like those old school goodies.
They also have a rooftop where you can sun bath during the day, or take a sight on the city lights on the evening. Their staff can help you lead the way to the rooftop. I guarantee you that you will be thrilled with the paintings around the walls while going up.
The most important thing for me is that they have friendly and warm employees. This is Ma'am Luisa where we call her "Ma-ma!" She is the sister of the owner where she is the one who manages their transient in Manila. We were lucky that we also have an outgoing attitude where in just a minute we clicked. In addition, we made friends with their staffs namely, Ate Weng. They we're very accommodating with our needs in the hostel. If you want to experience what we have experienced, one advice I could give to you is to be friendly with everyone.
How to get there from NAIA Terminal.
Upon arriving from the NAIA terminal, go directly to their gate 3 and walk outside. You will see a grab booth then tell the desk clerk where you want to go which is Villa Carolina Townhouse, 31 Bayview Drive, Paranaque City, Metro-Manila. The journey to the house would take 14-30 minutes depending on the traffic.
Overall, I would still recommend this townhouse if you need a budget room to stay in Manila.

Wow! I never knew about this place until now (I lived in PQ for several months). I’d surely prefer this place over expensive hotels. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!
