But what does this gibberish? Let the sakura; these are the ornamental cherry trees from Japan, where each spring, many tourists, but also local color like white or vibrant pink.
Doi Pui is the name of the top of the mountain, next to the Doi Suthep, Doi means "mountain".
So there are kind of sakura flower trees at Doi Pui? Well, yeah ! But beware, this is an ephemeral event held in Thailand each year in December and January only.
Directions to Doi Pui
It is by seeing a man with his sign to attract customers I discovered this place. It is therefore possible to actually get there from the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep , via a taxi or tuk tuk.
The most common solution for tourists, and I also recommend you to save time by bike. Assuming that you are already on a motorcycle arrived at the foot of the temple, to get to Doi Pui is very simple: Just keep climbing!
The road continues for 4 km and then you come across the parking lot in front of the Winter Palace Buphing . Go your way and continue along the main road that goes up.
The road becomes increasingly narrow. To become even more sometimes not a path wide enough for 2 cars, hence the interest to go by bike! The road continues for about 14 km, you come across another parking lot, but keep more far. If you during the full flowering season, you will know anyway as you approach the goal!
It goes limit!
Doi Pui to see that
Specifically, questions the road makes a loop, so that by going straight, you return to the main road to Chiang Mai (the city is indicated by wooden panels, but in Thai only ...)
You can first of all, you stop to admire the view, the proper perspective. This gives you a view of a Hmong village below. Which brings me to this other element of "what to see".
To the point of view.
Hmong village.
These mountains are home to several villages of the Hmong tribe. The town visible from the view shown just before the left. I do not think that this is the most "authentic" that is, but the air of nothing, I do not think many go there.
However, be aware that there are others, further sinking into the mountains, you can for example go to the village of Baan Khun Chang Kian, actually really close to where I stopped in the gardens. On the other side of the mountain, you have eg the Hmong village of Mae Sa Mai in Mae Rim district. Also in this area, I urge you to join the My Doi Cham, which I would not fail to do an article on it one of these days!
Otherwise, come Doi Pui remains primarily an excursion to admire nature, and outside the sakura is still a nice ride in the mountains that await you. Because even if the trees are not in bloom, the Hmong garden, tucked away in the middle of Doi Pui is not unpleasant to the eye.
Guests can enjoy a local café, the "fresh" (of the mountain) on the terrace, while admiring the view, that ask for?
Beautiful pictures. I really felt like I was going on a journey with you. Thanks for sharing. :)
