Close to Kirchdorf in upper Austria, there is a beautiful castle up the mountain called: "Altpernstein".
The very special thing about it is, that it has been used for "Jungschar" youth camps for more than 50 years.
As it is very special to have a castle for such a camp, people from all over the world came here, so that the castle was booked at all times of the year.
Now comes the sad part of the story.
Even after investing a lot of money, it was not possible to fulfil the laws on "fire protection", because other laws from "monument protection" didn't allow the necessary changes.
Plus there have been new laws on accessibility for handicapped people. In an old castle it's just impossible to make everything accessible like that.
The camps have been stopped in summer 2017 and this unique adventure for young people seems to be gone forever.
In my opinion, just because of overwhelming bureaucracy and that's sad.
We have been there in late summer and we had the possibility to talk to some people who cared about the castle in the last years and lived there themselves and drink a beer together with them.
So I want to share their story here.
What do you think about it?
