We celebrated our 30th anniversary with a quick 3 day, 2 night trip to Gig Habor about 3.5 hours away, by car. Since the weather has been hot dry and smokey in South Eastern WA, a trip to the coast seemed in order.
Instead of staying in a hotel, we rented a yacht, it remained tied to the docks, but morning coffee in the harbor watching seals and sea birds while listening to gentle waves is a nice way to wake up.
The BlueGoose harbored in Gig Harbor in a private moorage section was a great choice. This photo capture is from their marketing site.
Sunrise and Coffee sitting on the bow of the BlueGoose.
At low tide, we went beachcombing on Sunset Beach, 6 miles of beautiful beach that is difficult to access and requires a hike. So, it remains pristine and quiet even on beautiful sunny days.
The view of Mountain Rainer in the background and a riptide so powerful you can see it, we truly enjoyed walking along the beach.
6 miles of beautiful rarely used beach. We spent a few hours just walking and looking around.
Later that day we took a short tour boat ride to hear local history and interesting facts about Gig Harbor, home of the largest Giant Ocopus known to man.
this is a beautiful local carving and Gig Harbor loves it's history with the Giant Ocopus.
We had a great time and if you have the chance a couple of days in Gig Harbor is about perfect to view the sites and relax a bit.
I swing by Gig Harbor every other weekend. It's only a 45 drive from me and it's one of my favorite coastal towns in Washington - along with Port Townsend and Poulsbo :)
I also love Port Townsend! Beautiful place.
Is that a really big log or a really small dude?
Big Log!
Wow! Massive trees and blue geese. That place sounds like Disneyland.
What's a Bluegoose though? Every time I try to sit on a Canada Goose they become ornery and begin flapping me with their wings. It doesn't really hurt much but then some guy always comes up and tells me I can't be in the park anymore which is upsetting because I really like the park. These days all I have to do is start coughing violently and that keeps them at bay but I don't know how long I'll manage to live like this. All I want to do is fly a goose.
LOL, Well you could always start with flying Grey Goose, it is an excellent Vodka?
Thoughts? lol.
Every time I drink that I get pinfeathers stuck in my teeth.
30 years? wow, reminds me of my parents...Happy anniversary is all I can say. I hope to find lasting love in that fashion someday
Hey congrats!
Wonderful trip and another great adventure to share with us.
That sculpture is epic.

Miss u, @whatsup! I forget you're a Washingtonian, rock on :)
