The temperature is -7 Celsius.
I'm sitting here on a bench overlooking the modern skyscrapers of Moscow city, a district of modern buildings on the western outskirts of Moscow.
I'm reflecting on travel as I'm into my last 2 weeks.
The year has gone by quickly and slowly.
Loads of fun and not fun at all.
Times I've been stuffed with food.
Times I've starved not finding any.
One moment surrounded by many friends
And the next, surrounded by none.
That is with any travel, long or short term.
But it is especially with solo travelling and long-term.
I've often been told that my travel life is coveted and friends saying they're envious are numerous.
Yet I always say that for people who are born into a first world nation like Australia, we have the privilege of travel. There are people from countries who actually can only dream.
I've met a friend from Syria, now a war torn country who is denied visas almost everywhere or costing a fortune. I could only hope for him that time will solve the political problems.
I've mentioned before that my travel is for self growth. And indeed it has been the most rewarding.
To be humbled.
To experience and to learn
Of course I had to sacrifice for this too.
Stability
Fulfilling expectations
Time with family
Relations with friends
Reverse culture shock
Fear of the future
But for what I've gained.
I'd do it again if I could.
You only live once.
Make sure you don't regret having spent most of it dreaming instead of doing.
@wayso Thanks for Being inspiring I found you through thd pifc entry by @pehsteem
I like your poetic way of writing - it makes your post fun and easy to read. I had no idea that the Moscow skyline looked the way your picture shows. Cool post, though I would advise making it clear that it's your own picture - or otherwise indicating the source.
Great post! I found you thanks to @pehteem who featured you in the Pay it Forward Curation Contest this week. (I believe he's out of RC at the moment and can't let you know himself!)
Not sure how I would indicate it's my photo. But I did mention I was sitting in that position in my first sentence lol
I did see that, but assumed it was part of the poem. My apologies.
Very unique style you have. It's nice to see something different.
As you know @pehteem featured you in this week's @pfic's Pay It Forward Curation Contest.
True and sincere words my friend.
That is so true, we only live once. We need to have some fun while we're were. I'll be heading to Moscow next month. For the first time ever.
PS: I also came here because @pehteem featured you in the Pay It Forward Contest
Hello there @wayso, I've read through your blog and so many interesting post you have here but.. not toomany attention for a travel blog though, that's why I have featured you in my entry in the pay it forward, I like the way you wrote your story and it's not only about you but also about people you met, are you still in Moscow?
Hi thanks for the attention. I'm not active on steemit because no one seems to read it haha.
Hey @pehteem thanks so much for your support! My bro isn’t very active on steemit but he enjoys blogging.
He is currently in Hong Kong and will be back in the homeland next week!

I am not usually drawn to the travel post but love yours. The writing style brings real feeling into the journey.
I found your post because it was featured in the pay it forward curation contest this week by @pehteem.
You can check out the @pifc page if you would like to join in the weekly curation.
Helloo... how are you @wayso how's your travelling goes now? I might be someone who loves to travelling but hasn't had enough support to take a chance like yours.
Including the Atm's scammed experience?
It was an experience I didn't seek, but I accept as mine because every experience crafts your identity :)
Here to support your post @wayso, after @pehsteem entered it into our weekly PIFC contest!
