Still My Favorite Island in the Philippines

Last April 26, 2018, Boracay was fully closed for tourism due to some environmental issues it has been experiencing in the last couple of years. Some business establishments are non-compliant with the water treatment laws of the land making Bora a "cesspool" --- a term used by our President RRD to express his disgust in its current situation.

Before all of this, I was lucky enough to enjoy and feel the sand of Bora. You can do many activities here and I'll show you pictures of the few I had the opportunity to try and enjoy with friends.

Island Hopping

We went to three islands by renting a boat offered by the locals. As far as I can remember, this activity plus snorkeling for a few minutes cost a little over a thousand pesos or around 20 dollars per person.

Snorkeling

I went there with my high school friends Noren and Kacy (the Korean) and she came to the Philippines with her Oppa (No, not that Oppa you're thinking of...it's really her older brother).

Cliff Diving

Afraid of heights? At least try the lowest diving point and it ranges from 3 meters to 13 meters. I was able to gather some courage for the 2 lowest diving board and I have a confession to make...I called my mom for a thousand times before I was able to jump.

Don't be afraid to fall...because unlike your past relationships...somebody will definitely wait for you, save you, and make sure you won't get hurt. ✌

Parasailing

A combination of Parachute and Sailing.
Feel the wind as you get a 360 degree of the clear blue sea surrounding Boracay Island.

Only two people can ride this so I went with Noren while Kacy rode with her brother.

Food Trip

Thousands to millions of tourists visits this island yearly so expect a large variety of food to choose from.

Fresh fruit shakes are of course, everywhere...it can be a good company while walking bare foot and enjoying your view.

Truly, you'll know the value of something if it's already gone. Still, you are my favorite island...the adventures, calmness, wonders, and memories that you gave me will never be forgotten. And just like what I promised when I was about to leave your fine sand, "I'll be back"... I will definitely come back...when you are fully healed.

Let Boracay be an example of a beautiful and priceless gift we can give to our children, our future generations.
