After coming back from Belo Horizonte, I went to my beloved Praia do Forte. I missed beach and surfing but as there weren’t any waves, I decided to paddle a bit. It’s always a great training and also the best therapy ever – when you paddle to just stay far away from everything and everybody… and there’s just you and the ocean.
I also saw two sea turtles passing just next to my surfboard.
On the way back to the hostel, I passed by the surf school where I had taken the classes. Turned out there was a journalist there doing a reportage about water sports in Cabo Frio. They invited me to participate in it and few days later, my name appeared in Cabo Frio’s journal…
Here’s a small translation of the surf part of the article:
„Patrycja Orlowska, 21 years old girl coming from Cracow in Poland, is living in Cabo Frio for 5 months and she’s passionated about this city and its natural beauty. „It’s a paradise”, she claims. And it’s here where she had her awaited meeting with surfing.
„I always wanted to try, I saw many surf photos and videos and I fell in love, but I hadn’t traveled to any place where I could have really tried it before. When I came here, I knew there was a beach and I got introduced to some people from a surf school, I started to take classes and I just loved it.”
Surf tradition of Cabo Frio hasn’t started now. The city is a birthplace of Vitor Ribas, a surfer that has been taking part in World Surfing Championship for a long time, and he almost became a world champion twice.
The owner of the surf school, Ian Carrico, says that there is no age to learn surfing.
„I’ve already given a class to kids of 3 years old, and our oldest student was 65 years old. He caught his first wave at that age.”
Saudações, querida mocinha.
Bela postagem. Não conheço essa praia não. Parece ser muito bonita, principalmente pela última foto.
Uma coisa me chamou atenção. Se vc é da Cracóvia, conhece Viktor Navorski??????? É seu amigo??????
Boa noite e bom sono :D
Praia do Forte e a mais conhecida em cabo frio, é maravilhosa!
Haha nao conheco ele infelizmente nao!
Boa noite!
So lucky to see those sea turtles too, I swam close to them in the Phillipines once so majestic. Need to check out Brazilian beaches I've heard some amazing things, people only ever tend to talk about Rio etc around the World but I bet there is so much more!
Yes indeed Brazil has so much to offer! Rio is amazing, that's true, but it doesn't have the best beaches. Regiao dos Lagos which is Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo etc.(in Rio state but around 120 km from Rio de Janeiro), north-east of Brazil, and much much more, all of these places have so much to offer!
