Step back to Brazil that stole my heart and fear of not letting me in the country

in #travel7 years ago

I am on the bus. Almost arriving. Suddenly I see a board with writing "Bem-vindo! Witamy". I cannot believe, did I just see something in Polish? Turns out it's polish colony named Wanda, situated 30 km from Puerto Iguazu.

I'm arriving in Puerto Iguazu and taking the bus to Foz. Few minutes later I'm getting off on Argentinean border and I'm getting my exit stamp. I am getting on the bus again just to get off few minutes later.

Brazilian border. I actually still have 3 weeks of my visa left. They should give me that without a problem and only then I'll be worrying about extending it for the next 3 months (that I have to pay around 100 reais for it).

I am going to the counter and handing in my passport.

  • Miss, will you be travelling more in Brazil or will you go back to Argentina?
What should I say ? I'm afraid that if I tell the truth, she will ask me about some proof that I would leave the country. I know that I don't need to show anything if I come back to Argentina, at least on this border.
  • Well, I'm not so sure about my plan yet, but probably I'll come back to Buenos Aires. - I'm saying Buenos Aires because I hope she will think I'd come back by plane and she will give me this tourist card that I need to fill in.

She's handing my passport back in with stamp but without marking how many days I have there.

  • Is it for these 3 weeks that I had left? - I am asking.
  • It all depends if you are travelling back to Argentina. Are you?
  • Well, as I said I will probably come back to Buenos Aires. But it might happen that I will still go to Rio.
She gives me tourist card to fill in. I'm filling it in and leaving blank the question about the date of coming back. I'm a bit scared What if I will have to go visit another countries now instead of my beloved Brazil?
I am handing her in that card.
  • What are you actually doing so much time here in Brazil?
  • Me? Well, I am travelling, visiting places. I fell in love with this country.
She rolls her eyes as if she wanted to say "Stupid gringo. Why do they like Brazil ? It's like the worst country to live in'. But she doesn't say anything. Instead she is giving me back the card and my passport.

With an entry stamp.
For 90 days.
Without paying.

It worked.
I am back in Brazil!
