It's already February, soon it will be Carnival, and I still haven't told you how NYE looks like in Brazil.
First of all, if you still think that Polish people drink a lot, please, come to spend NYE in Brazil. On 26th of December nobody remembers about Christmas anymore. Everybody starts celebrating NYE drinking bottles of cachaça and beer.
The most traditional way to spend NYE in Brazil is to:
- spend it on the beach
- wear white clothes
- go to the beach at the midnight
- jump over 7 waves at the midnight (and each wave is one wish you have to make)
There are also a lot of shows, fireworks... there are millions of people coming to places like Cabo Frio so it gets unbelievably full. The ones who don't want to spend it in such a crowd, go to the beach just at the midnight, but just think about how much people come here if instead of 2 minutes walk, I took 15 minutes to the beach to see fireworks at the midnight.
After that, everybody stays there to keep drinking and dancing Brazilian funk until the sunrise.
All these traditions are really nice and I loved them. But there is simply just too much tourists coming to places like Cabo Frio, it gets too full, and so dirty on the 1st of January you can't even imagine... It's just sad, but I loved the experience anyway.
