After visiting the backyard of the CCCP mementos, I felt a bit unsatisfied. It was interesting, but I was expecting something more. So we moved towards the next yard ...
Backyard of lost toys
Like the previous backyard, it is also located on the street Knyazya Leva. This time there is no gate and you have to walk around the building to get to it.
After passing the building, we head down the yard. After a dozen or so meters we will be greeted by plush toys.
The beginning of this place is associated with Vasily Petrovich, who 20 years ago found 2 abandoned toys and puts them under the roof in the yard.
Over time, other residents began to bring toys and so the collection grew up, finally someone came up with the idea of making a kind of museum.
:P |
Water pigs? |
After some time Vasily Petrovich provided the yard with a swing, sandpit and fountain.
Little Soviet |
According to the original assumption, lost toys were to be brought here so that their owners could pick them up.In practice, however, hardly anyone took them, and the inhabitants of Lviv began to bring toys that they no longer need and so the collection took on considerable size.
Currently, this strange museum works in such a way that everyone can play with these toys, leave their own toys or take one of the toys home. Vasily himself would like all toys to find new owners.
Of course, the weather does not help and a lot of toys look like you can see, but in my opinion it just adds charm to this place.
Cossacks here? |
It's just toys for children, but the place is quite abstract, I would even say surreal.
After previous backyard I was still hungry for unconventionality and absurdity - These backyard fulfilled this hunger.
aloha!
Awesome and beautiful information. And you know what today looking at my nefew playing with toys, i was wondering to make a post on toys when suddenly i came across yours.
The story sounds interesting and how the people carried on with the theme is very interesting. And with multiple tots keep dumping at this place it keep getting attractive. Most important anyone cane take back any toys of theor choise and keep their ...kind of barter...never knew of this before @velmafia ukraine is beautiful for sure but these place making it amazing. What a wonderful gesture to the society. Here in India we use to share the unused toys with underprivilged one. So many toys keep moving to new home....
Thanks for sharing the wonderful world of ToYS.

howdy from Texas velmafia! wow this is so unique, I've never seen anything like this before! What an array of toys, it would be wonderful if many of them could find new owners. This is a very unusual story, thank you. Are you saying that there are other backyards like this one?
Cześć @janton!
As I write in my article, I know also backyard of CCCP mementos. I didn't hear about another strange backyard. Maybe similar backyards exist, but they are waiting to be discovered? ;)
I bet there are somewhere! lol.

Hey @velmafia
did you know about this secret spot before or you just luckily found it during your own exploration of the Lviv ? This is a truly amazing gem of the city and somehow a creative place. This scenery is perfect for the horror movie or some kind of other creepy artistic footage.
Your post also reminds me about a a similar backyard in Den Haag, Netherlands but in the same time it was also something completely different
Some time ago, my wife found photo of this place in internet. So we knew that this place exist, but we didn't know nothing more, and we had to ask google.
This is kind of creepy and fun at the same time. What a lovely place.
Wow, I've never seen anything like it, it's weird but I love weird things in art. It's brutal, it's a whole world apart. The little soviet is a crack, hahaha. If I was convinced by this proposal, maybe because I didn't have the expectations that you, anyway your post was great.
A toy museum?😃 this is my first time hearing of that, so many toys... I can imagine how amazing it will be for kids (and even adults) to visit there... What started so little, has grown this big... How amazing!!
Oh no, let's keep the museum running!😉lol! I am sure more toys will come by as others find new owners tho... That place sure does have its charm!
Certainly a novel idea. It's funny how things evolve. They rarely go to the plan of the original concept unless rules are imposed, so I love that rules weren't imposed here and it evolved into what it is today. It is a shame about the weather getting to them, which might put some off playing with soggy plushes after the rain! :D
I have never seen anything like that. It started like a great idea to collect toys so that their owners come and collect them. I think that maybe some owners came they but they liked the idea so much that they just left the toys behind. You are right, the collection is considerably big. I'm sure that it would be great for those toys if there would be placed somewhere inside to protect them from the weather. It will be a huge loss for the city once they will be completely damaged..
I was thinking to go to Lviv for such a long time as I've heard that it is a beautiful city. Once I get there, I will definitely visit this 'museum'.
Your photos are very nice. They feel kind of moody which gives this place a certain strange feeling (well, it's a strange place anyway, isn't it?)
Thank you for sharing!
I think it will not happen, this museum starts 20 years ago, a lot of toys have changed during this time, but place still exist. The weather only speed up the rate of change.
