And for motorcycle drivers the roads are the most deadly in the world. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-38660283
Many tourists come to Thailand and immediately hop on a motor scooter. Most rental shops don't even require you to show a drivers license. Motor scooters are easy and fun to drive, but stay alert and don't get too comfortable. Even if you are a good driver, the driving rules and regulations in Thailand aren't usually followed, and not understanding the driving culture here can result in tragic consequences. I've seen many deaths and I've been in motorcycle accidents that weren't my fault.
So just a word of caution: if you plan on traveling to a country like Thailand, do research about the driving culture, don't drive too fast, always be aware of your surroundings, and STAY SAFE!
