Taking a tour to Isla Espiritu Santo has been one of the best experiences I ever had! It took about an hour boat ride from La Paz to be able to get to this island, but it was worth it!  Today I would like to share my adventure visiting this island and showing you the beautiful scenery found here This delightful island is not visited as much as Cabo San Lucas or other nearby places, but it is such a beautiful place to visit that is definitely worth talking about it. Hacer un recorrido a la Isla Espíritu Santo ha sido una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido! Tomó cerca de una hora en lancha desde La Paz para poder llegar a esta isla, pero valió la pena! Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi aventura  en esta isla y que mostrarles el hermoso paisaje que pueden  encontrar aquí! Esta isla paradisiaca  no es visitada tanto como Cabo San Lucas u otros lugares cercanos, pero es un hermoso lugar para visitar y definitivamente vale la pena hablar sobre ella. Isla Espiritu Santo

Isla Espiritu Santo is located in Baja California, Mexico.  It is the 12 biggest island in Mexico with only a little past 31 square miles. The island is uninhabited so there are no restaurants, hotels, restrooms or anything other than marine life and reptiles and birds. You can find sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins, whales and many different type of birds such as pelicans and hummingbirds. There is a very large colony of sea lions, which you will see in the video and this is found in the north of the island. This is the best area for snorkeling, therefore, it id common to be snorkeling next to the females and young sea lions as the male sea lions tend to be very aggressive. Before our group started snorkeling we were given many rules to make sure we protect the flora and fauna of the island, but also to be safe and not get close to the male sea lions due to their aggressiveness, which occurs mainly during the time the female sea lions give birth as they are very protective.  I can honestly say that this has been one of the best snorkeling experiences as the water was so clear and there were tons of fish and interesting rock formations too see. There was also a guide that led the way and kept us safe in case there was a shark nearby. It was a little scary knowing this and seeing that there are jelly fish as well, but is definitely worth it as it is truly beautiful! 

Isla Espíritu Santo se encuentra en Baja California, México. Es la doceava isla más grande en México con solo cerca de 31 millas cuadradas. La isla está deshabitada por lo que no hay restaurantes, hotels y baños unicamente vida marina, reptiles y aves. Puedes encontrar tiburones, manrayas, tortugas, delfines, ballenas y muchos tipos diferentes de aves como pelícanos y colibríes. Hay una gran colonia de lobos marinos, los cuales se pueden ver en el video y esto se encuentra en el norte de la isla. Esta es la mejor zona para bucear, por lo tanto es muy común practicar esnórquel junto a las hembras y los jóvenes leones marinos ya que los leones marinos machos tienden a ser muy agresivos. Antes que nuestro grupo comenzara a bucear nos hablaron de las reglas para asegurarse de que proteger la flora y la fauna de la isla y también para ser estar seguros y no nos acercamos a los leones marinos machos debido a su agresividad, que se produce principalmente durante el tiempo que las hembras leones marinos dan a luz, ya que son muy protectores. Puedo decir sinceramente que esta ha sido una de las mejores experiencias de esnorquel ya que el agua era tan clara y había muchos peces y formaciones rocosas interesantes para ver. Había también una guía quien nos mantuvo a salvo en caso de que hubiera un tiburón cerca. Fue un poco espantoso saber esto y ver que hay medusas tambien, pero definitivamente vale la pena ya que es realmente hermoso!

The Tour

The hotel where I stayed, Costa Baja Resort, coordinated the tour to Isla Espiritu Santo. I was very pleased as I did not have to worry about transportation to the embarking beach and food as the tour comes with all this for only $950 pesos per person! This is such a bargain as is approximately  $52 dollars for the tour. Once you are picked up at the hotel at 11 AM you are taken to Pichilingue Beach, which is where you can embark for tours. This is a very nice beach where you can so activities such as kayak for only $100 pesos an hour for the rental and there are restaurants here as well. The embarkation took place at 11:45 AM and it took about an hour to get to the north of the Isla Espiritu Santo. On the way to the north of the island there are several beautiful stops such as the bird sanctuary, a few rock formations and even to see dolphins as the tour guides know where all of these things can be found. It was a very pleasant and smooth ride. My only mistake was not bringing drinks with me as the others as you can even bring alcoholic drinks to enjoy on the way to the island and on the beach. Once you get to the north part of the island you are given 45 minutes to snorkel with a guided tour as well as learn a little about the marine with the useful information from the tour guides. After the snorkel activity you are then taken to a secluded beach is the island to enjoy the peaceful water and eat some delicious ceviche! The tour comes with lunch and soft drinks included, which was amazing! Plus after snorkeling you do tend to get a little hungry. I really enjoyed relaxing on this beach and observing the tide pool here and having a nice lunch. I was lucky as one of the guys in the tour offered us some beers as he took plenty for the tour. You do see a few yachts coming to this beach, but it still remains to be a peaceful place to relax and simply enjoy the water. Around 4 PM we left this beach and headed back to Pichilingue. We did do a few stops on the way back as well and passed through some beautiful caves and rock formations you must see in the video! This was amazing! We also stopped at Balandra Beach, which is one of the most famous beaches in La Paz.  This beach is breathtaking and you can walk and walk and walk and the water remains shallow and does not get deep than your waist. The tour turned to be about 5 hours long. 5 hours of beautiful scenery, water activity , nice lunch and a relaxing time at the beach. This was a great experience I highly recommend to all of you if you have not yet visited this island.

El hotel donde me quedé, Costa Baja Resort, coordinó la visita a la Isla Espíritu Santo. Yo quede muy contenta ya que no tuve que preocuparme por el transporte a la playa para el embarque y alimentos ya que el tour viene con todo esto por solo $ 950 pesos por persona! Esto es una ganga, ya que es aproximadamente $ 52 dólares por este tour. Una vez que nos recogieron en el hotel a las 11 de la mañana nos llevaron a la playa Pichilingue, que es donde se puede embarcar para los recorridos. esta play es muy bonita y apaga para puedes actividades como kayak por sólo $ 100 pesos por hora pir el alquiler y hay restaurantes aquí también. El embarque se llevó a cabo a las 11:45 de la mañana y tomó cerca de una hora para llegar al norte de la Isla Espíritu Santo. En el camino hacia el norte de la isla hay varias paradas de gran belleza como el santuario de aves, unas cuantas formaciones rocosas e incluso para ver los delfines como los  guías saben done de puede encontrar Estas cosas. Fue un viaje muy agradable!  Mi único error fue no llevar bebidas conmigo como los demás. incluso puedes llevar bebidas alcohólicas para disfrutar en el camino a la isla y en la playa. Una vez que llegue a la parte norte de la isla se nos da 45 minutos para practicar esnorquel y aprender un poco sobre la vida marina con los guías. Después de la actividad de esnorquel nos llevaron a una playa paradisiaca en la isla para disfrutar del agua y comer un delicioso ceviche! el tour  viene con el almuerzo y refrescos incluidos, lo cual me pareció increíble! Además después de un buen rato en el agua siempre da un poco de hambre. Me gustó mucho relajarme en esta playa y la observación de conchas y estrellas marinas aparte del almuerzo. Tuve la suerte de que uno de los chicos en el tour nos ofreció algunas cervezas ya que contaba con varias para todo el camino.  Se ven unos yates que vienen a esta playa, pero aun así esta playa mantiene como un lugar tranquilo para relajarse y simplemente disfrutar del agua. Alrededor de las 4 de la tarde nos  fuimos esta playa y nos dirigimos de nuevo a Pichilingue. Hicimos algunas paradas en el camino de vuelta y pasamos por algunas hermosas cuevas y formaciones rocosas que deben ver en el vídeo! Esto fue increíble! También se detuvo en la playa Balandra que es una de las playas más famosas de La Paz. Esta playa es impresionante y se puede caminar y caminar y caminar y el agua sigue siendo poco profunda y el agua solo llega a la cintura. La excursión resultó ser aproximadamente 5 horas de duración. 5 horas de un hermoso paisaje, de actividad de agua, buen almuerzo y un tiempo relajante en la playa. Esta fue una gran experiencia que recomiendo a todos ustedes si aún no ha visitado esta isla.
