🌴☀️It was situated right near the ferry terminal that would bring you to Isla Mujeres, and I'm not kidding, North Beach on Isla Mujeres is one of the most stunning beaches I have ever visited in my life!🌴☀️

NOT A POOL! Also, can we talk about how my nail polish matched the water?! NOT PLANNED.
North Beach, Isla Mujeres
This little island boasts one of the whitest sand beaches in the world, is home to Mayan Ruins, and also has a turtle sanctuary! We ended up here during a tour that we booked to go swimming with Whale Sharks. I booked this tour for my husband's birthday and it was one of the best memories we have from any of our travels. Even for me, who is a self-proclaimed chicken of anything adrenaline-based.
Jump in the water with sharks? Um, no. But it was his birthday and I wanted to experience it with him, so I downed a corona and shot of tequila and boarded the boat.
Turns out, these 'sharks' are harmless filter-feeding sharks that survive mostly on plankton. They are the largest shark in the ocean and can be up to 40ft long! Needless to say, jumping in the water in the middle of the ocean with these guys was one of the most badass things this girl has EVER done. Bad. Ass.
This next photo isn't my own (source is credited below), but I couldn't get a good shot of the massive size of their mouths! One of them literally swam right towards me with his mouth open and I pretty much said my goodbyes and prayed to Jesus. But like I said, these gentle beasts aren't interested in eating us, so he just swam around me and my heart started beating again.

If you're planning your next tropical vacation, consider doing this. Like I said, it was one of the best vacations we went on. Oh, and did I mention that it was this trip that my husband proposed to me on? 💍
Thanks for reading and happy traveling! 💜
Jen
The most exciting part was the last photos. You actually got good shots. I think a little editing can make the photos clearer.
I agree, but I liked the whole pics travel haha

Wow Jen! Congratulations! I have been in the area lots... finally moved to Playa Del Carmen from Canada and I've still never swam with the whale sharks so I'll have to do that soon! I love this part of Mexico!

Go there in the summer then you will never forget about that trip.
Cheers
Would you like to come to Jeju Island for your next vacation? You can meet new foods, new kind people, beauty you never experienced.

Wow what stunning creatures, you're so blessed to have had the honor to swim with them, its one of my dreams to swim with whale sharks. I didn't realise they could be found in Mexico either? Enjoy the rest of your trip and congrats on your engagement!
Nice view
This is nice beautiful beac mexico
This account of the exciting adventure in Mexico wouldn't be complete (for me) without mention of the following:
I have read much about the Mayans and have always looked forward to when I could visit their ancient ruins to learn about their greatness.
Your mention of them brought home (in addition to all the shark swimming, etc) the very reasons why I should visit soon.
Would really love more firsthand stories of the place, especially the historical aspects of the great country.
Thanks for sharing.
My wife and I love Cancun! We seriously considered moving to Cancun before settling on a move to Panama. The beaches are beautiful and it just a great place to vacation. We always like to spend a day or two on Isla Mujeres, it's more like real Mexico than "tourist Mexico" and there's some great food on the island. Be sure to try the local alcoholic delight Xtabentun. It is delightful. They do make mixed drinks with it but I love it straight.
That place looks very nice.
That is wonderful place that I seen before. I hope one day I can go Mexico with my husband.
Enjoy your time. Nice to read your post.
Beautiful photos. Mexico is the next place I want to go-- specifically Oaxaca, but Isla Mujeres looks stunning! Congratulations on your engagement, @travelingsomm!
