Hey Steemians,
Today we drove the RV from Mt. Shasta to Grass Valley, California. On the way, we drove through a large flooded rice field just as the sun was setting. I NEEDED to stop for a rooftop photo.
I'm going to try something new with this one.
You see when I photo edit, I try to capture the essence of the moment, visually. I sometimes embellish the intensity of the colors, or the deepness of the shadows to represent how it felt to see the sight with my own eyes. But that only works for the visual part of our journey. There are also emotions, and thoughts and sometimes words and body language that goes along with it. So in an effort to truly share my journey with you all, I will add a short written abstraction of our experience below each photo. Sort of a poetic narration of the moment, a snippet of a story. So take a read and enjoy!

The Magic of Sunset
There is an incredible magic about sunsets. They have this ability to make even the mundane look incredible.
... I pondered, at high noon it would look rather industrial. Power lines running along the road, noisy equipment and vehicles passing through, and an irrigation system reminiscent of a sewage facility. But at sunset, after the work of the day has ceased and all the clamors gone with it, the rice field becomes still. The only sounds, the delicate brush of the wind and indigenous birds fluttering about in the near distance. As the shadows grow long, the clouds become inflamed with the dying light of the setting sun. In this moment, the World of dreams and magic is revealed. What once was an agro-industrial wasteland, becomes the setting of a painting.
"If only we could live in the sunset forever." she says. "Imagine how much beauty we would see." "But darling, then we would have no sunset to marvel." he says. "Like a story without an ending, we would drift along without a purpose." She nods with a smile, "But a fairy tale it would be."
We continued with the sunset at our backs to Grass Valley...
