A Trip to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park

Mobile Alabama is the home to the retired battleship the USS Alabama. In this article, I will share my experience visiting this incredible park.

Off the coast in Mobile Alabama, there is a Memorial Park centered around the USS Alabama. The park is open to the public and is home to many historic military vehicles. These include:

The USS Alabama (battleship)
The USS Drum (submarine)
Military Aircraft
Land Artillery and Tanks

The park is home to a massive war memorial to honor our fallen heroes. It also contains lots of large picnic area where you can enjoy the outdoors and the ocean view.

The USS Alabama was a battleship that began service in 1943, during WWII. When in operation, she carried 2500 crew members and was nicknamed "Mighty A". The ship earned nine battle stars during her service.

While the main attraction is the USS Alabama, the grounds also include a park with many tanks and artillery on display.

There is an actual WWII submarine that you walk through, The USS Drum.

There is also an indoor aircraft pavilion, that has contained aircraft from WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cold War.

If you are love history and weapons, this is the place for you. It is incredible to see these magnificent creations of man up close and personal. This is a wonderful place for the entire family to spend the day.
