🇫🇷 Let me take you to Paris 2/3 🇫🇷

Introduction...

Hey Steemians! Hopefully you enjoyed the first part of my “Let me take you to Paris” series.
Today we are going to continue where we left of last time – at the cathedral "Notre-Dame de Paris" - and see many more beautiful sights of the French capital.

Hallo Steemians! Ich hoffe, dass euch der erste Teil meiner “Let me take you to Paris” Reihe gefallen hat.

The national monument of France, the Panthéon…

A few hundred meters south of the cathedral another marvelous masterpiece of old architecture can be found – “The Panthéon”. This is a huge monument built on the hill “Montagne Sainte-Geneviève”. The 83m high building was built as a church from 1764 till 1790 – however it then was used as a national memorial by the leaders of French Revolution.

Under the huge hall there are many graves of famous people including Marie Curie (no, luckily not the @curie from steemit), Voltaire, Victor Hugo and many more. Due to respect, I didn’t take pictures of the graves.

When you walk inside you are stunned – it is just so massive! Massive and beautiful! It is hard to imagine that this wonder was built over 200 years ago without the help of modern machines.

2.jpg

At the end of the Panthéon you can find an impressive sculpture – the “Statue of La Convention Nationale”. Maybe one day something like this will be built for Satoshi Nakamoto?

Hm, I guess not. We don’t even know his face yet.

3.jpg

After visiting the Pantheon, we needed a rest and therefore walked to the huge park “Jardin du Luxembourg”. While relaxing in the sun we enjoyed the view back to the Pantheon.

4.jpg

It was such a nice view that even the sculpture couldn’t resist taking a few selfies.

5.jpg

Big, bigger, Versailles ...

The next day we traveled 22km outside of Paris (around thirty minutes by train) in order to visit the famous palace “Versailles”. Since I come from a country with quite a history, I have seen more than one palace so far. But let me tell you – Versailles can’t be compared to any of them. It is just a different league. Everything is bigger and shinier there.

6.jpg

Even the gate to the palace is golden. Unfortunately, the guy in front of it was so fascinated that he wouldn’t leave.

7.jpg

Since there were tons of people waiting to enter the building we decided to explore the back and the huge garden first. This is how the building looks from behind.

8.jpg

As I told you before, everything is huge there. Just look at this well sized spring and the endless park area behind it.

9.jpg

If you are a fan of nature and love trees your wishes also will be fulfilled.

10.jpg

11.jpg

Another amazing thing about Versailles are the endless avenues. I guess you could just stay inside Versailles and still find plenty of running possibilities for my 100 SBD “Fifty runs till May” challenge.

On the other side, if you live in Versailles, 100 SBD might not be relevant for you.

12.jpg

13.jpg

After hours of walking around we got back to the main building. And guess what, there were not many more people waiting to get inside. So, we got our student ID’s (those allow you to enter free of charge) and entered the building.

It was really crowded inside, so I couldn’t take many good pictures. But I got some.

What would you think about writing your steemit posts at this awesome desk?

14.jpg

In my opinion, most of the stuff just looks to overwhelming. Be honest, who thinks he can sleep here? I definitely couldn’t!

15.jpg

After we walked outside, we took a view back to the amazing palace.

16.jpg

But who built all this?

Well, I don’t know. I just know that King Ludwig the 14th (the so-called king of the sun) was the one who had it made this fancy in the late 17th century.

Of course, there also is a sculpture of him.

17.jpg

Jahrhunderts so prunkvoll ausbauen ließ.

The Palace of Versailles, is one of the largest and most opulent castles in the world. A fine example of 18th century French architecture and art, it is one of the most visited attractions – and castles – in France, as well as being a UNESCO’s World Heritage site and must-see French landmark.

Its an awesome palace - but it shows the cruelty of humans. While millions had to starve a little group lived like this. :/ But nice to watch nowadays, sure :)

Sure you will have a Wonderful time in Paris, one of the most brilliant cities from Europe with its perfect lunches and dinners, the sightseeings, the streets and the artists on the streets. Thanks for sharing and have fun.

Thank you, we really had a great time there. Have you been to Paris yet?

Thanks for sharing

Thank you :)

You definetly should visit it - Great you enjoy my stories :) There are many more to come!

I'm glad you enjoyed my home country =). You made some fantastic pictures, better than the one is our tourism office haha

Hi nice post
Hall of Mirrors
As one of the most eye-catching features of the Palace Versailles, the Hall of Mirrors measures 73m in length and is comprised of 17 arched windows with each window embellished with 21 individual mirrors… So totally this reflective hallways beams light off 357 mirrors! The Hall of Mirrors isn’t only popular for its effects, it’s also lined with statues and busts as well. Deemed one of Louis XIV’s best contributions to the Palace, historically it was also where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919 to end WWI.

I didn't even post a picture of the "Hall of Mirrors" - was too crowded with people for me to make a nice picture! Still a very impressive part ;)
