11th day of Srilanka's trip. Rafting, local kindergarten & jungle walk:)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

After the breakfast we headed toward a village of Kithulgala (around 70 km far away), but before it had been reached, we did a few stops as usual;). First one looked like a short walk tour above the lake and a beautiful herbal plantations, where we were also observing some women working on it. It was followed by a second stop where we had the opportunity to see Christ church Warleich from the year 1878 when British colonizers constructed it. After one hour of driving we reached our final destination of that day – city of Kithulgala.

Immediately after registration at the reception of Kithugala resort house some of us jumped onto a jeep, that took us to the rafting point. About 150 km long river so called Kelani is the only river in Srilanka that rafting can be possible, since it has some rapids. Our 6 km long ride was realy exciting and slightly rainy;)

Aa soon as our river adventure had finished, we had to join the rest of the group, which was just prepearing for another visit. And what was that? It was definitely one of the most emotional exeperiances of our journey, since we visited a local kindergarten nearby. In so called pre-school, which is voluntarily managed by a local woman, where 8 children are included (7 of them are girls). That visit was realy sensitive, as they’re operating in quite bad condition but they are still so humble, friendly etc. In fact there is no words to describe it ! Of course our group prepeared some gifts for each of them, that we bought in the local shop before (sweets, pencils, notebooks, erasers and much more). They were so, so happy!
