Bosque Los Colomos - An Oasis in the Middle of the Guadalajara Metropolis

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

In yesterday's video, we asked our subscribers what we should do that day in Guadalajara, Mexico. A couple of people recommended that we visit Bosque Los Colomos; a free park that's about a fifteen-minute drive from our Airbnb.

While traveling through Mexico, we have tried to drive as little as possible. Once we get to our new Airbnb we'll typically leave the car parked until we absolutely need it. Therefore, we generally end up Ubering to most places.

The fifteen-minute drive was $55.40 pesos to get there and $45.58 pesos to get back via Uber Pool ($3.06 USD and $2.52 USD, respectively.)

The park is enormous so we didn't get to see all of it, but it was a pretty cool place! It was surprisingly quiet and relaxing, especially considering that it was a gorgeous Saturday.

There are countless paths throughout for walking, running, or horseback riding, it has plenty of places to have a seat and enjoy a good book, and friendly squirrels that will come right up to you and eat peanuts out of your hand.

As you walk around the park, you'll encounter quite a few different themes. This "Japanese garden" was probably my favorite one of the day.

We don't talk about this subject a whole lot. Aside from producing (what are hopefully) entertaining videos, we thought it'd be good to let everyone know what exactly we're doing to benefit Steem.

What we're doing to grow Steem

1. Delegating our Steem Power to grow the Nigerian community

We are delegating almost all of our SP, free of charge, to help grow the Nigerian Steem community. Nigeria is a key to making Steem huge and we're currently delegating about 28,500 SP. You can read more about that here.

2. Sending 1,000s of unique visitors to Steemit

We send 1,000s of unique visitors from Facebook to Steemit every week. You can read more about that here.

3. Growing our social media presence and YouTube channel

We are still under 500 YouTube subscribers but our channel is growing fast. We're currently adding 20-35 subscribers per day. Once we grow our audience outside of Steem, we'll be able to promote the platform to an even larger audience. Because of this curiosity factor, we've had the opportunity to tell dozens and dozens of interested people about Steem.

Curious about what goes into producing our videos? You can read about that here.

4. Working on an SMT project

We can't share a lot of details at this point but Steem is a full-time job for both of us. In addition to producing videos, we are spending hours each day contributing to another Steem-related SMT project.

5. Word of mouth

We're a young couple who aren't even close to retirement age. Everyone we talk to is wondering how we're earning money while traveling, which is a perfect segue into telling them about Steem/it.

We use this action cam to shoot our videos.

Greetings, tangerine.

At first, I found the name tangerinetravel very cool. Here in Brazil, reminds me of the word tangerine, which is a fruit. Is it the same for you?

I found very beautiful these photos that you put of this place in Guadalaraja.

If I lived nearby, I might visit the place every day. As soon as I saw the photo, I thought it would be nice to walk my dog there.

These places that have a lot of nature transmit an immense peace to our soul.

Thank you so much for the photos and for showing us this beautiful place for us.

Good evening!!!

Que lindo panorama le da la vegetación!

Sí, fue muy lindo! Has visto el video?

Si vi el vídeo amigo! :)

Muy bien! Gracias por ver lo!

Good to see how you are contributing to the steemit community. Need more people like you.

That place looks awesome! I can't believe how much more affordable
Mexico is than the US. If I was down there right now, I don't think I would ever come back...

It was pretty cool! And it was a whole day's entertainment for the low cost of the Uber ride. I don't know how we could return to the US at this point. We're now accustomed to eating awesome meals at restaurants for just a few bucks.

....And just about every other difference between the two countries. ;)

what a beautiful landscape looks like a postcard should be very happy of that extraordinary walk through Mexico, the best thing is that post will easily pay that trip with all those SBD by upvotes my friend greetings that follow the exits and the adventures

The park did have a lot of gorgeous scenery! We were able to feature a few of the landscapes in our video.

We are completely reliant on Steem to fund our travels at the moment (well, that and some savings). But, with the rate at which our YouTube channel is growing, we're hopeful that in a few months we'll be able to fund our travels solely with our other income streams (affiliate marketing, sponsorships, paid tours, youtube ad revenue, etc.) and that we'll be able to power up everything that we earn on Steem.

All the Steem Power we earn is being delegated to help grow the Nigerian Steem community, which is crucial for the growth of Steem as a whole. And they need all the help that they can get!

linda foto un paisaje bellisimo para disfrutar la naturaleza, un abrazo

Espero que quieres ver el video en YouTube. Fue muy divertido!

gracias lo buscare o enviame el link

El link está in nuestro blog, pero aquí esta tambien.

Wow!. The Japanese theme as you called It, really look so cool. This is definitely a fun place to go and be.

I must say, I like what you did with your hair, Jordan.

Maddie came alive as always. Always loved her playful state. Hahaha. Nice spin btw.

Hahaha. The upper body work out is actually needed, since you have been doing the lower, with how the city is. Haha

That Squirrel is so adorable. I know mostly, they run away, and seeing it eat out of your hand, and gesture with the hand, that's really impressive, I must say. The one I saw at the fun gardens here, ran away to the tree. Hahaha

There is this fun fact about squirrels. They are responsible for increase in number of tree plantings, since they usually bury their nuts and forget where they bury them.

Yes, the Japanese garden was amazing!!

I've never seen squirrels so unafraid of humans that they'd literally let you pet them...well, as long as you had food for them!

Something interesting about the squirrels here is that many of them looked like they had been attacked by something (they were missing a bunch of fur on their backs and some had dried blood.) We were wondering what animal(s) have been attacking them.

Our best guess is that the squirrels have been attacking each other but that was put into question when we saw a duck peck at a squirrel.

Cool fact about squirrels! I didn't know that.

~Jordan

Wow!. They need to have proper care for them, like you said, never seen squirrels so unafraid of humans, that they even allow you pet them. They are rare. The one I tried doing that to, ran. The squirrel raced as run. Hahaha.
Thanks a lot Jordan. :)

a little piece of heaven on earth, what a beautiful landscape

It sure was gorgeous! Thanks for watching :)

The travel blog was really awesome, keep traveling and keep sharing with us 😊

Thanks for reading, watching, and commenting. We really appreciate the support and the compliment!

It looks like heaven very nice place

We could spend so much time there! Were you able to watch the video? If so, what did you think?

Yes i did watched it and ur such a cute couple in a significant place
About the squirrels Ur so funny btw 😂

Thanks for watching! We try to make it very obvious that there's a video in our posts but it seems like people frequently overlook the video. They see a few pictures and think that's all there is to the post.

Thanks for the compliment, we really appreciate the feedback :)

~Jordan

Yeah actually it has to be seen since it shows us what u did as a life show and that what is nice about ur video
U keep it up guys ur just doing great 👍🏼

Wow it looks really you enjoyed more with your girl friend, both of you were excited and the garden is wonderful, thanks to share your good moment.

Thanks for watching and commenting, we really enjoyed it :)

Wow! Japanese garden. I mean, the squirrel are lovely.

The squirrels were a lot of fun! And that Japanese garden, absolutely breathtaking!

Thanks, you keep showing me the Mexico I don't know.

We appreciate you taking time to read our posts and watch our videos. Thank you!

That green so cute, that forest must be the lung of Guadalajara

No doubt that it helps to clean the air around here!

We still need to check out the other parks around GDL, like Parque Metropolitano, which is significantly larger than this one. I'm not sure if trees are quite so prevalent in that park, though.

I can see that you really enjoyed yourself. Keep enjoying

Thanks for watching! It was a very enjoyable afternoon :)

Nice park, but there's one thing that got most of my attention - those adorable squirrels! 💕

By the way @tangerinetravels, thank you so much for putting out here all the efforts you are both making to help Steemit grow. Best of luck and more and more subscribers to come to your YouTube channel!

Also, best of luck on encouraging the growth of the Steem community in Nigeria. Cheers!

Greetings my bro! If you can take a look at my last post and tell me what you think about that curious picture that I captured.

@tangerinetravels I had no idea that Guadalajara was such a beautiful place! It looks like you guys really had a great time out there!

I just wanna say that I love Steemit because of posts like these. There's so much genuity (don't know if that's the right word, but fuck it!) on this platform and just genuine sharing of ideas, thoughts and experiences that I simply don't see on traditional social media platforms where everything seems either fake, exaggerated, filtered, or even toned down somehow to some form of bullshit.

It may even be the case that it's like this because it's a new platform and most of the people don't know each other from their personal lives. But I wish that regular social media was like this too, where people can just cut the bullshit and say what they want to really say without thinking twice and just express themselves without giving a fuck.

I just love it here!

Hey guys, thank you for sharing. I did not know about this park. If I ever go again, I'll try to go.

Also, will all the political shit that is being thrown around here on Steem, I think it is good you mention what you are doing for the community. Great for your image.
