The travel bug has bitten me... twice!

in #travel4 years ago

So within the past few days, I've been considering going to Ljubljana in Slovenia at some point, exclusively by #bus, #coach, #ferry, and/or #train, depending on what is the cheapest way to travel at the time I plan to go. Admittedly, it would be a long trip, so I'd probably want to plan some stopovers every so often, so I don't exhaust myself on the trip, and also so I also open up more avenues of travel for myself as well, given that the UK is set to leave the EU at the end of January, plus the pandemic is in effect, along with a global recession, things may get tricky! With this in mind, I also want to try a little experiment as time goes on too, but I need to work out how to make it happen fully. What is this experiment you ask? Well, I want to see how long I could survive travelling around #Europe using a combination of my 'Beer Money' funds (BMF), and also the cryptocurrencies I've claimed over the past while!

I haven't fully worked out the logistics as of yet, but it would require me to make sure I have a more solid plan with it all, especially given I don't really have all that much in the grand scheme of things. Additionally, I'd be wanting to travel somewhat light as well, both so I have less to lug around Europe, but also so I have room to bring stuff home for the #DiggerFeast as well, though I would probably do some of the consumption of food and drink on the trail as well. In a way, this is a sort of precursor to the 'World Trip' project that I have planned, although realistically, I'd probably need to also make myself fitter, plus I'll probably need time to rebuild my BMF too, as I've just used part of the money refunded to me from my bank (I'm keeping it there to bump up the interest rate on the account, plus right now it's the best interest rate I can get with a GBP financial institution at 1.15%, though I have no idea how long that'll last for!).

One thing that I will be doing is using my Curve Metal* (CM - when I get it) to help reduce the amount of cards and stuff that I need to manage, as well as my Crypto.com+* (CdC) prepaid card, as the CM card grants me 1% cashback on certain retailers, as well as mobile phone and travel insurance, whereas the CdC card allows me 2% cashback on all my transactions, although with a Spotify Premium, I get 100% (ish) back, and I'll probably be making more extensive use of that on my travels. One thing I am trying to aim for with the CdC card too is to get up to the 10,000 CRO (about £1,300) tier from the 1,000 CRO tier (~£130), so I'm able to get 3% cashback instead of the 2% I currently have, plus also free Netflix. I have some other financial stuff I can consider too, but they're the main thrust of things right now. Another thing I should probably include (if only because it aligns nicely with the travel theme) is using COIN App*, seeing as I can mine some squares whilst on the move, and it would be a perfect accompaniment to the travel stuff!

Naturally, given that the DiggerFeast, #Diggernomics, and Diggernomics Crypto are all involved, this is going to be a #DiggerKrew thing overall. I'm still not quite at a sustainability target for this mini travel project, and probably won't be for a while (meaning I'll be having to travel after #Brexit), but I have at least started to take steps towards making things happen, though I currently have no timeline for this. One thing that is for certain is that I'll be #blogging on here (#Hive), on #WordPress, on #Tumblr (albeit via a push from WP), and hopefully on #Minds, as well as also doing a blog on #Ko-Fi, where there will naturally be the option to tip me there if you're so inclined. There will be other ways to tip me too, plus a lot of referral links will probably be used to help me procure credit, crypto, and other useful bits for my journey. Naturally, I'll be making #Instagram and Ko-Fi photo posts (and possibly elsewhere too), as well as posting links to the blog posts on the social media platforms like #Facebook, #VK, and anywhere else I'm on that has slipped my mind.

Truth be told, I may not actually even reach Ljubljana with this project, saving it as a team thing instead, seeing as right now, I'm making this a travel project solo thing under the DiggerKrew brand, and the Ljubljana trip is partly tied into something else. Hell, maybe I should just have a wander around all the more affordable countries within Europe instead of this project and see where it leads me, much like 'Bald and Bankrupt' does, although I probably would need to learn some additional languages, as well as expanding my German (it would help jog my memory of speaking another language that isn't English). That not to say it will 100% be solo in the end, but right now, I'd rather have a travel project where I'm pretty much the only person involved with all the decisions, mainly because it's hard getting others involved sometimes. That said, however, after bringing up plans for this trip, I ended up getting distracted from finishing this blog post off because another travel project spawned from this discussion, but I'll discuss that later!

In any case, it looks like I have a lot of planning to do, and it may end up being that my solo plans end up getting merged into this somewhat, be that completely, or as another "quirk" or "challenge" of that trip, just to do something interesting with it. Of course, the latter would be likely, with my current plan going ahead either with just me, or with others in tow, but both projects are in their early days, so I can't reveal too much right now, as I'm not even sure what I'll end up doing in either case, apart from the main unique spin on the team project, and I'm not revealing that just yet, as I want to keep an air of mystery with it... at least for a bit longer! In any case, it seems that the next few years might turn out to be more interesting, especially given that things have had to change due to the pandemic. Either way, as always, watch this space for details! I'll provide links to everything later on when I get my social media presence better sorted out, seeing as I have a lot to link in together, and some things aren't yet officially ready to go!

Until then though, I'll catch you all later on.
