Basantapur Durbar Square
Basantapur Durbar Square is one of the most popular places in Kathmandu well known for its beautiful architectural structure and history. It carries our tradition and reflects culture. Basantapur Durbar square is one which had been added in the UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beauty. It is popular among the tourist people as well as among the Nepalese. Many Jatra or Religious festivals are done here as it carries great value for Newari Community. Basantapur Durbar Square has one of the best temples of Kathmandu.
Basantapur Durbar Square was destroyed due to the earthquake 2015 but after four years finally, it has been reconstructed. The treasure of golds and silver was found during earthquakes in Basantapur Durbar Square. So, there is a mystery about this place too. Here is s a picture that shows the site of the building afterwards the reconstruction and it looks amazing.
Basantapur Durbar Square is a wonderful place where most of the historical buildings are built before the Unification Campaign of Nepal. Basantapur Durbar Square has a great history as one of the greatest ruler Prithvi Narayan Shah stayed there after capturing Kathmandu during the period of Unification campaign. So this place carries the history of Nepal with it. Basantapur Durbar Square has many mysteries yet to be solved.
Basantapur Durbar Square is a place where a lot of Jatras (festivals) take place as it is a holy place for all the Newari community. All the building were built by the Newari caste people before the Unification campaign which is just beautiful. Basantapur Durbar Square is a really beautiful place not to be missed during Nepal visit. So, makes sure to add it in your travel list for future to visit this amazing place.
