We were on a cruise down the Three Gorges, Yangtze River, China. Rolling hills flanked both sides of the river, and here and there we can see small villages perched on the side of the hill. Apparently, we are only witnessing a fraction of the Three Gorge's former glory, as the construction of the Three Gorge Dam permanently raised the water level, making the valley much shallower, and many villages were submerged underwater. Nonetheless, the scenery was still beautiful, especially during sunrise when the sun was just rising above the rolling mountains.
