Yogyakarta Special District Tourism Office promotes a number of new tourist destinations to increase tourist arrivals both domestic and foreign to the area in 2018.
The new tourist destination is dominated by nature tourism, Brecken Cliffs Park in Sleman, a tourist attraction in the hills of Mangunan, Bantul, Ancient Volcano, Nglanggeran, Gunung Kidul and Kali Biru in Kulon Progo, and tourist villages spread across five districts / city, which in 2017 then has a significant number of visits.
"Our promotion is intensified in various cities both domestically and abroad," said Head of Yogyakarta Tourism Department (Dispar DIY) Aris Riyanta in Yogyakarta, Saturday (17/2).
Aris admits almost every year new tourist destinations appear, both culinary and nature, in Yogyakarta. The emergence of the new destination, is expected to provide many options for tourists who want to visit the gudeg city.
According to Aris, besides through various exhibitions in the country, the promotion of new tourist destinations will among others be prioritized in every visit to Asian and European countries.
Aris said that the promotion needs to be strengthened even though tourists who come to Yogyakarta nowadays have tended to want new destinations to be dominated by destinations that have long been popular, such as Malioboro, Yogyakarta Palace Museum, Taman Pintar, and Prambanan Temple.
"Tourists who have often visited Yogyakarta usually want a new tourist destination," he said.
According to him, the realization of the number of tourist visits during 2017 reached 397,000 for foreign tourists and 4.7 million for domestic tourists with the movement of tourists to tourist destinations in five districts / cities reached 23.7 million people.
With the number of new tourist destinations, Aris believes the number of tourist visits both foreign and domestic can achieve the target of visits during 2018 which is expected to rise 10 percent compared to 2017.
