Our Visit to the Hogar Infantil Marsh Orphanage in Playa Bonfil

On one of the last days of our six week stay in Acapulco, we visited a magical orphanage located in our favorite beach town, Bonfil. Over the course of our stay we had acquired quite a few toys and had some childrens clothing we wanted to donate. It presented a perfect opportunity to visit the orphanage our fellow expats had generously supported in the past.

Many of the children living at the orphanage lost their parents due to growing war between cartels and rival gangs taking place in Mexico. It fills my heart with joy to see how well they are being taken care of at the orphanage.

The orphanage is located right on Playa Bonfil and also has a pool!

These are the children that live at the orphanage. There is a wide range of ages. When we arrived they were very happy to see us and all of them looked healthy and in good spirits.

We gave a decent stash of toys to the littlest children in the orphanage. They were extremely grateful.

This is Jovita, she founded and runs the orphange. She was a very nice woman. She shared with us that the children need help learning english. It is my intention when we return to Acapulco later this year to help the children to learn english. She also said the kids enjoy when other children come play and said the kids that come for play never want to leave.

This is the crew we came with for our visit. As we left, I shared with the children that we should always be grateful for what we have and to notice how happy the children were even though they dont have parents to look after them. We all left feeling excited to return and help out more with the orphanage.
