Hello my dear friends. Let me invite you to an exciting trip today. I invite you to the village of Serednee, which is located in Transcarpathian Ukraine. It is here that the Templar Castle is located. Unfortunately from the castle there were only ruins. This is the only Templar Castle that was in Ukraine. The Templars built this Castle in the 12th century and this Castle was a defensive point in Europe.

The village Serednee is located between the City of Uzhgorod and the city of Mukachevo. I advise you to visit this place during your visit to Ukraine. This castle is not large, about 18 meters long and 16 meters wide. The castle resembled a three-tiered tower, about 20 meters high.

From the history of the Templar Castle.

To the Order of the Knights Templar, the castle has the most immediate significance. Similar fortifications were built by the order along the entire "salt path", which led from the mines in the village. Solotvyno, Transcarpathian region to Europe. They allowed to control the trade in salt, a very expensive commodity in the Middle Ages. Until the 17th century the castle repeatedly changed its owners, later, when it ceased to meet the modern requirements in the field of protection, was abandoned.

Over the past 300 years, no restoration work was carried out, which led to the almost complete destruction of the Castle. Not far from the fortification it is possible to get acquainted with the unique wine cellars laid by representatives of the Dobo clan, who developed viticulture in this area in the 16th century. Today the cellars are operated by the Leanke production association, excursions and tastings for tourists are organized.

I hope you enjoyed our tour. I thank you for your attention. Follow me. Our tours and trips continue.

That is an interesting history!

I am surprised there is still so much of the castle left since it has not been kept in repair.

What a fun field trip!

Thank you very much for the comment!)) This castle could stand for another hundred years. Only locals carry stones from this castle to their homes!))

Oh my, lol.

That is a funny sight to imagine, and yet I can see it happening.

Maybe they are building a castle of their own, haha.
