I Will Be going To The 2018 Winter Olympics In Pyeongchang, South Korea

in #travel7 years ago

Don't get me wrong, I'm not competing in any sports in that Winter Olympics nor that I was specially invited to it. But I will be going there for few days just to experience it. I've never been to any Winter Olympics before, this will be my first time. So I want to take this opportunity to really experience it because it might be my only chance in my lifetime to experience it.

I'm actually not only excited about being given a chance to go to the Winter Olympics, I'm more excited because I got to play in the snow! You know, coming from a tropical country we only have two seasons in a year, hot season and rainy season. It has always been my dream to actually go to a place with snowy winter ever since I was a kid. I always asked my parent back then, why our country doesn't have snow and they find it difficult to answer especially when that question came from a 7 year old. I guess most kids in tropical country have the same dream as this, who doesn't want to play with snow at least once in their lifetime, right? I've been in a winter but it was the Australian winter, it was cold but no snow.

So going for this trip I will strike a few items off from my bucket wishlist and my personal dreams, going to a country in winter (with snow), playing with and in the snow, taking photos of the snowy winter and going to an Olympic (although I only put this in my bucket list last year... LOL!). Also running naked in the snow! nope I won't do that, just kidding LOL!

Anyway, it will be a photography trip for me in a way. Since this is my first time, I don't know what to expect actually. I told myself that I will be going with an open heart and mind. Some of my friends said it will be very difficult to take photos in cold winter but they did give me a few tips. If any of you have any tips for me, do share it in the comments below.

Damn I can't wait to got there. I'm really excited right now!

Yup it will be awesome, my only worry is that it will get very cold but I might care less due to my excitement :D

Anyway, will check your post out, I need the tips.

I will be going there too, as Team Manager for our Malaysian Team ! The very first Malaysian Team to a Winter Olympics ! Will I see you there??
Btw, tips for your camera - keep it warm when you are not using it.... You will find out that the battery seems like dying out...keeping it warm will help keep the battery life. Wrap it with a scarf or your beanie !
Anyway, I will upvote you. I am going to blog about my trip too, so you can check to find out what's happening.

Wow! That's awesome! What event is the team competing in? I hope we can bump into each other there.

Thanks for the tip! Really appreciate it.

Fuyoh.. winter olympic experience. Being a spectator is good enough!
Do take more photos!

Will do bro, will do. Hopefully my camera can stand the cold.

Just check with Google, it's -5c there.
Good luck man.
Bring back some nice photo ya!

According to the people that I will meet there, they're expecting the temperature to drop further down during the Olympic, somewhere around -10 or maybe less....

Thanks and for sure I will :)
