bad gastein is a spa town in the austrian state of salzburg. picturesquely situated in a high valley, it is known for the gastein waterfall and a variety of belle époque hotel buildings.
my husband and i took a trip to this beautiful place. one day we went to the stubnerkogel. the stubnerkogel in bad gastein isn’t just a legendary mountain for skiing. the views are also absolutely magical. whoever visits the restaurant at the summit station of the lift and then steps onto the hanging bridge just a few metres away will get a real thrill: the 140 m long and just one metre wide bridge was built as a swinging rope construction and leads directly from the terrace of the mountain restaurant to the sender station.
here a picture i took while eating the famous austrian germknödel (yeast dumpling filled with plum sauce):
we enjoyed our stay a lot and went to the thermal spa. the name bad means spa, reflecting the town's history as a health resort. the local thermal spring water earned the town its early fame. the view there is just stunning:
we stayed at the regina boutiquehotel. this was such a nice place to stay. we were there in september/october so it was the perfect time to chill and relax. usually bad gastein is crowded with tourists, but only in the wintertime. so we really enjoyed the landscape and the calm before the storm. the hotel was so different, but in a good way. the design is unique, the food is delicious and high-quality, the private spa in the basement just pure luxury. take a look yourself:
however, every morning the sun shine beautifully and made it much harder for us to leave this romantic place.
take care ;)
