Beautiful Brazil - Guide to Chapada Dimantina Part 1

in #travel6 years ago

G'day

Recently I've been doing a lot of travelling and reluctantly not a lot of Steeming. Time to get back into the swing of things.

Your guide to Chapada Dimantina, which is an enormous Parque Nacional in Bahia Brazil. 'Diminatina' means Diamond as once there was a diamond rush here but thankfully they banned it and declared it a Park.

To Kick things off, lets start with a photo Vale do Pati. A stunning tropical canyon within the ChapadaIMG-20181007-WA0004.jpg
And a token map...

To get here you'll need to drive or grab a bus from Salvador. Driving is possible but the roads are not very good. The Bus is cheap and will set you back about $R30.

You'll probably won't to stay in Lençois first, it's a great starting point to start your adventure. It's a small village that has plenty of accomodation hostels/pousadas/hotels. The restaurants here are excellent and there are day trips from here. Guided or just walk to some waterfalls by yourself. In part 2 I will go over all the activities.

I did a daytrip with a group from Lençois, It costs $R100 for the whole day and included food. Once again its possible to rent a car and do everything i did self-guided.

Tropical Jungle and Desert all within kilometres of each other. Such diversity!

A small Lagoa (Lake). Check out the colour of that water. There was a wee Barraca down there, make sure to put away a few Caipirihna's down there.

That's it for now, will add a bit more to this in another post or two.
