Back before the lockdown and all the pandemic fiasco, I applied for an event styling team which I'm still currently part of to this day, and this is one of the memorable travel + work experience I had when I started with them. This was back in October 12-15, 2019, so I'll try to write about this experience as much as I can remember. Thankful I have photographs to look back to to help refresh my memory. I also don't want to break this post into parts so I'll squeeze in the four day trip in this post.

Day 1: Arrival at Dipolog City

We arrived in the afternoon at Dipolog on a gloomy day, a hint of rain while we were travelling from the airport terminal to where we stayed at Manuel Resort. After we settled in our things, we met with our client, which I learned later on that they were returning clients, our team set up their wedding and wanted us to do the styling for the first birthday of their baby. Conversations over food, a quick tour of the resort at night, before we called it a day. Tomorrow we will start with the first set up.

We had an early start, breakfast was good, a lot of things to unpack and planning ahead. We were also able to roam around the resort a little before we started working. Our client provided an empty function room where we could work and set up our underwater themedbackdrop for the photoshootthe next day.

I drew some fishes for this setup. made some crafts with the team also for the sea anemones and coral details and other things. We called it a night after finishing the setup at around nine in the evening, or was it later, forgive me for not remembering exactly.

The itinerary for the day was to shoot the underwater setup in the morning at the resort we were staying at, and in the afternoon move to a different beach location for the next setup which was the picnic at sunset. First order of business went smoothly, the birthday boy wore a baby shark body suit to fit the underwater backdrop. Later on we had the cake smash before we had our lunch.

Never saying no to a quick photoshoot in between work. Here are some postcards before we started setting up the picnic set up for the next theme. Our afternoon location was at Dakak Resort. Love how blue the sea was that day, and the sunny day.

We ended both shoots in time, and celebrated with food again in the evening back in Manuel Resort.

Day 4: One last dip before flying back home

1654309977779.jpg

On our last day in Zambaonga del Norte, we were finally able to make use of the pool beside our room. Our flight was scheduled in the afternoon, which gave us time to pack, relax a little bit, and swim.

Grateful to our team for bringing me along for this travel work trip, and our client for the accommodation, hospitality, good food and overall memorable experience.
